what does /vr/ think of the "Sega Ages 2500" series of games for the ps2? They're essentially remakes of sega's classic arcade games with updated graphics, levels, and music and I thought id get /vr/'s take on them.

The later ones by M2 are amazing in their scope with various versions to pick from and lots of bonus material.
They early ones seem a lot like hit or miss.

Yeah, the M2 remakes are great. They did crazy shit like remaking Fantasy Zone 2 on real arcade hardware, I love their dedication.

Not sure if m2 made the virtua racing one or not, but it's like too smooth feeling or something. Even the 32x virtua racing is a lot better

They were one way that I can have the 'member berries. When no one else gave the series love, I will.

I remember, once in an arcade. A person saw me sitting at the Virtual On machine, asked me if he could challenge me, which is of course okay. To both of our surprise, there was someone else in this country that actually proved a challenge. A wonderful chance meeting, and to this day no other mortal in this country would challenge my (first two prototype copy) Fei-Yen, to you sir, your Raiden/Ampharmd piloting I salute. These days are long gone, a game which no one likes in this country had its day to be remembered.

I also like the lore behind the first game's mechs (virturoids).

It's got my favourite port of Virtua Racing - smooth, easy to control with cool bonus stuff.

I have Panzer Dragoon and the controls are janky. The updated graphics aren't really that impressive but that's to be expected since it's a budget series, I would have been happy if the controls were like in the original, but nope.

I also have Nights on PS2, which isn't a 2500 series but it was planned to be. Controls also have issues.
