Hi /vr/
Any of you ever own an Acorn Electron (or BBC Micro)?
What games did you enjoy?

I do not, but I do have a Raspberry PI running RISC OS with BBC Basic. I have never owned a Acorn computer, but I have played the Chucky Egg port for RISC OS.

I was on a job clearing an attic in a school (used to be an old house). I managed to salvage a ZX81. Unfortunately it had no leads so it just sits on one of my shelves.

Is there a usable image for RISC OS on the PI now? I'm gonna have to take a look at it.

Yes. Its very usable. It was officially released last November for the PI. Not all software will work. You need 32 bit compatible software. 26 bit software will not work out of the box. There is emulation though (free OS emulator and a comercial 26bit emulator).

The November release (5.19 r6) was my first time ever using RISC OS. I quickly fell in love with the OS.

I never owned one OP. But I think I'll try out this computer or another Acorn machine (like a RISC-PC) one day. Can you tell me how does this one feel? As I don't alway get machines to play games, what king of utilities can you get for this babe?

The Acorn electron and BBC Micro had a pure text based interface (basically you just started typing in BBC basic). From what I understand RISC OS was a really great OS back in the day and still has a loyal following, I'm going to be trying out the image for raspberry pi myself.

The games I liked on the system were from a company called Superior Software, Repton 1,2, and 3, Citadel, Ravenskull, etc, Also the BBC was the first system that Elite came out on.

I don't mind about text based interfaces, I eat that shit everyday...
