Hypothetically, if they released a Super NES Classic/Mini, which games should be on it?

No.

>> No.3611721

Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario RPG
Super Metroid
F-Zero
Super Castlevania IV
Final Fantasy III/VI
Chrono Trigger
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Earthbound
Street Fighter II Turbo or Super Street Fighter II
Star Fox
Mega Man X
Donkey Kong Country
Harvest Moon

anything else?

>> No.3611723

I'd assume they would drop the amount of games to 15-20 instead of 30.

SMW, Super Metroid, Kirby Super Star, DKC, Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, Sim City, Pilotwings and LTTP, are probably a given.

For third party I assume Megaman X, Castlevania 4, Final Fantasy 3, and Street Fighter 2 are very likely as well.

SimCity
DKC 2 (that soundtrack)

And finally Hals hole in one golf.

In addition to ones already mentioned, I'd add Wild Guns, Alladin, and Super Smash TV.

Assuming they can get the licensing they need from Konami, Electronic Arts (LucasArts, Maxis), Microsoft (Rareware), Capcom, Square Enix and Natsume.

>> No.3611857

Something tells me it would have half the number of games.

Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario RPG
Tetris Attack
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
Kirby Superstar
Kirby's Dreamland 3
StarFox
EarthBound
F-Zero
Super Punch-Out!!
Megaman X
Super Ghouls N Ghosts
Super CastleVania IV
Super Street Fighter II
Final Fight
Final Fantasy IV
Chrono Trigger
Soul Blazer
Bust-a-Move
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Harvest Moon
Act Raiser
Secret of Mana
Demon's Crest

I have a big feeling that most of the RPGs on the list would be a no go. I'm thinking they'd only have one on there, and neither of the first party options would be there so they can milk the virtual console market further.

>> No.3611860

Given that everything on the nes mini is already released on the virtual console, the only games to pick from are these:

ActRaiser
Aero the Acro-Bat
Aero the Acro-Bat 2
Axelay
Brawl Brothers
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire II
Castlevania: Dracula X
Chrono Trigger
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Cybernator
Darius Twin
Demon's Crest
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure
EarthBound
F-Zero

Also i don't think Breath of Fire 2 is good at all, but its popularity warrants inclusion.

if there were 30 games, but i think they would put 50 or 60 games due to the success od many titles on the snes. it will cost more logically. I would select these:

-super mario world
-dk 1
-f-zero
-sim city
-super mario kart
-star fox
-castlevania 4
-megaman x
-super metroid

Some of you guys are listing games that don't deserve to be on an SNES Classic. The point of the NES Classic is to put library staples on it. The SNES Classic will have to be thought of with that in mind.

You people listing stuff like Wild Guns, Harvest Moon, and Space Megaforce need to stop.

Also, you should disqualify any SuperFX games due to the legal gray area surrounding the ownership of the SuperFX chip.

They're not gonna add anything that will require additional licensing, so take your Aladdins and Lion Kings out. Also, unfortunately, Rare stuff would be out of the question as they belong to Microsoft.

So what we got left are basically 1st party stuff, Square stuff like Chrono Trigger/FFIII, Capcom stuff like SFII, Final Fight, and Mega Man X, Mortal Kombat, and some oddball stuff like Pilotwings or Actraiser.

I didn't say people didn't know them, I said they weren't library staples. They aren't essentials to most people. When people think console Double Dragon, they think of the NES games. Normal people generally don't think about Bomberman or Tetris Attack when they think about the SNES.

A hypothetical SNES Mini needs to be a greatest hits system like the NES Mini is.

To be honest, it's probably a good recommendation for a general audience, I just find it to be pretty boring combat wise, however, the fact that the SNES classic would have to have at least 3 ports to fully support the coop is something to take into account. If they jewed on it and went for 2 ports and included the game, that'd be kinda lame.

Argonaut developed the chip for Star Fox, which they co-developed with Nintendo. Argonaut doesn't exist anymore, so nobody knows who actually owns the rights to the chip.
