It sort of is, having a powerful background processor and slightly more VRAM is a fairly substantial advantage.

The Saturn one runs in hi-res, with higher quality textures, has all of the ground visible instead of just the immediate vicinity, the polygons have minimal to no polygon jitter, and the explosions are 3d fireballs instead of 1 large sprite.

The PSX one has... coloured shading and more detailed shadows. That's it.

Saturn one is so much better that they used it as the basis when porting the game to Xbox in DOA Ultimate. PSX version was quietly forgotten.

On the Playstation, probably SOTN.

On the Saturn, um... good question, I'd say Cotton Boomerang, it has okay animation, shitload of gigantic sprites, and special effects up the wazoo. Some levels on it have like 4 layers of transparent backgrounds, plus transparent sprites.

Princess Crown and Nanatsu Shima no Monogatari have pretty sprite animation but NOTHING ELSE. They have static, single layer backgrounds.

No they aren't.
The shading fucks up all the colours on them, they look all smudged. You can't even tell if Kasumi is wearing any tights or if she's just naked, because the colours blend together too much. Saturn version just looks much sharper.

>the only thing better on Saturn are the 2D backgrounds, which is to be expected since it handles 2D better.

Ironically it also has 3d explosions, unlike the PSX version that uses a single sprite. Maybe if they used the 3d explosion, they would've had enough VRAM to make the textures look less like a N64 game.

>Bulk Slash

2D mech game only in Japanese with FMV schoolgirl yelling every 2 seconds. Nah thanks, I'll stick to Armored Core Series, Krazy Ivan, and Warhammer. So must own it never even got a US release.

>Guardian Force

A 2D Jap only shooter. PSX had plenty of shooters as I remember. Again, so must own it was never released on dreamcast.

>Assault Suit Leynos 2
Jap only never re-released on Dreamcast because it wasn't a good game.

>Keio Flying Squadron 2

Bland 2D shooter where you take control of a preteen girl in a playboy bunny outfit riding a dragon. Only must own if you are a pedo.

>Fighters Megamix 2

What is a shitty DOA style fighting game that is nothing more than VF2 characters + Fighting Vipers characters. Didn't really get into it because I was playing this little known series called Tekken at the time. Maybe you heard of it. Again, this is what Saturn fans call "must own."

>Final Fight Revenge

You know why Final Fight 3 for SNES is so expensive? It's because people were already sick of the series and didn't buy it. Probably second best game you listed, though.

>Blast Wind

Another generic 2D shooter that never saw a US release. Haven't we already been down this road already?

>Shining Force III

Finally you picked a good game. I don't know if I'd say "must own" though. Even Shining Force fans agree that it's skipable. Best game you listed.

>Clockwork Knight 2

Literally never a good game. This game is a step backwards from even SMB3 as far as the platformer genre goes. Donkey Kong Country looks better than it, has better music, and it was a generation before the Saturn.

>Enemy Zero

Like the original D with so little gameplay it is a walking simulator. Survival horror in space. Cyberia and D are better than this game and since those aren't must own, neither is this crap.

Is that all you got Saturn apologists? Dated pedo uninspired JAP only shooters and Shining Force III?

>Because when not even the company feels it is "must own" enough to get translated, let alone re-released, it is pretty good evidence the game is shit.

No, the only thing it tells you is that the company did not see it profitable to bring it over. Usually due to the fact that it would not sell in big enough numbers to recuperate the cost of localization and logistics; which can be due to
- localization having a high cost due to the game being too complex (like a RPG)
- localization having a high cost due to source code being lost and translation needs reverse engineering (Magic Knight Rayearth took 2 years to bring over because of that)
- not enough potential buyers due to poor console sales
- not enough potential buyers because the game style is not popular in this area

For example, on the Saturn you have less than 1/10th of the market in America, so why the fuck should they bring over anything but the most popular titles that have the potential to sell the most. Or, for the N64, they can't bring shit over because carts cost too much, and they can't afford the risk. Or they can't bring over Idolmaster because puritan americans would think that it is pedophilia simulator.

>There was literally never a time where Sega was the market leader or benchmark for gaming.

Genesis had 60% of the market in 92-94. SNES only caught up in sales because it got AAA titles many years later, when the Genesis was already canned.

Ah yes, the it's one Jew's fault at SOA why the Saturn failed idea. Like Sega was sitting on a bunch of A+ titles that would have vaulted it to number 1. Those titles all sold shit even in Japan that were mentioned. They would have sold worse in US/EU.

>localization is expensive, which is why they weren't released.

It is a tiny fraction of a cost to localize that it is to develop a new game. It is also a fraction of a cost to release on different hardware, like the Dreamcast or PS2. Face it. People who knew the business better than you crunched the numbers and thought the games unworthy of better consoles or localization.

I'm not shilling for anybody. I'm laying down the truth. I've put up about 10 A+ series and supposedly all that you hipsters douchebags can come up with is 2D shooters that couldn't even sell well in Japan.

>being this delusional
Retarded americans will buy anything flashy with blood on it, they don't care about good gameplay, that's the reason no one gave a shit about crappy Mortal Kombat in Japan while VF was fucking huge you stupid piece of shit.

>Do you have any idea how many copies of that game were sold even on crap systems like the Saturn.
Way below VF2 that's for sure you mongoloid.

>Retarded Americans...
Where the fuck are you from?

>Mortal Kombat is shit gameplay

Still regularly populated online for multiple remakes and regularly played in fighting game tournaments, unlike ANY version of Virtua Fighter.

So? a shit game with more playerbase is still a shit game. And VF series is pretty popular on Japan which is the only fanbase of FTG that matters, not those kusoplayers who waste their time on crappy games like MK2.

Yes, I'm talking gameplay-wise, it plays almost like a hypothetical Dead or Alive 1.5, it's very fluid.

>Also the models are bigger and more impressive, in Saturn they look like midgets at times.

They're of similar size, the resolution makes them different (larger on the Saturn, taller on the PS1). Saturn version runs at 704x480i and the PS1 version runs at 512x480i.

That's just a territorial thing. VF is still played in Japan, while MK is not.

Mortal Kombat is more popular in the west the VF. But MK is fucking trash. Only reason it got popular was cause of the gore. Try playing the originals now and honestly tell me theyre good.

Street Fighter 2 shit all over it. The new ones are dial-a-combo bullshit with edgy fatalities
