It is. It's everything a 3D platformer should be. OOT/MM are good too despite MM in particular already showing the N64s weaknesses. Banjo too. It's good but I wouldn't say it's a LOT better than Spyro. Conker actually gets on my nerves now that I'm fully old. I should have picked it up 15 years ago.

I'm sorry dude I just can't shake the feeling that only Nintendo, Rare and Treasure actually knew how to program for the N64 and everything else is like an alpha of the game the publishers were trying to make. Then Nintendo and Rare both fell into the trap of trying to push the hardware too far. I think maybe Treasure just got lucky and the relatively modest games they make happened to click right with the hardware. They're about the only games I've actually discovered to be good in the last few years.

this argument is dumb but too be fair i have never heard anyone refer to it as "pee es ex" in real life. just ps1. but i have seen psx used a lot in print media and online over the years. i remember thinking that psx specifically referred to the newer, slimmer model of ps1 that was released because that's when that term started to gain traction. when ps1 came out everyone just called it playstation.

PSX (PS-X) was used heavily before and after the original release of the console and did gradually fall out of the lexicon only to come barreling back in, indeed with the release of the slim "PSOne" but as a way to specifically differentiate the original "fat" console.
