It's a favorites thread. Grenade Launchers in particular. I love the Q2 launcher even if it is one of the more useless weapons in the game. It was visceral, it was blunt force, it had a neat reload animation. But the sound of the grenades clattering wasn't as good as Q1.

So what is your favorite GL?

The Grenade Launcher is Duke Nukem 64 singlehandledy make the game worth playing.

It completely wrecks the balance of the game though, especially if you're playing the PC mod port.

The grenade launcher in Shadow Warrior is probably my favorite, but the double grenade launcher in Strife gets a mention

I always liked the simple under carriage grenade launcher in the old Delta Force games. It was that thing slung under the M4 carbine. It worked well for me and I took down helicopters with numerous accurate strikes, and other ground vehicles.

Oh aye, I remember it. It had the same pop as the HL1 grenade launcher. You could put it anywhere you wanted with that predictable trajectory.

The Half-Life MP5 + GL was pretty fun (and versatile), but I must admit pic related was my favorite.

Another launcher I really liked was the one from AvP. I think mainly because it had a high amount of detail in the model (for the time) including tracking how many rounds were in the cylinder magazine and the expended canisters ejecting with gravity from the weapon. Not to mention it killed nearly anything with one hit. Hordes of aliens, Predaliens, and even Predators most of the time.

It was fun to use I agree, but the rail and missile launcher just outclassed it and there weren't too many opportunities for it to shine. Tight hallways with blind corners and doorframes to bounce one behind you weren't common fighting grounds save 1 or 2 maps.

No arch != grenade launcher. For all intents and purposes primary fire on this thing was a rocket launcher. Even the rocket launcher in HL had and arch if you used the targeting system. Come on now.

Going with pic related. Although canon was a pretty solid meme, too. This one had more ammo and even if you missed it didn't feel like a huge waste.

Let's expand a bit to 'nades both launched and tossed. I present first the most utilitarian of all the grenade-like weapons in classic gaming: the Blood dynamite bundle.

Tossable, droppable, timed or on-impact, around corners, above, below, through a window. It did it all. And it hurt.
