Weird Sonic 3 and Knuckles glitch. Game froze, played these weird sounds, and the screen would flicker when I tried to reset the Genesis.

That wouldn't explain the game freezing. My guess is that is has something to do with needing to load data that can't be accessed due to bad connections. It would make sense for it to happen in Sonic 3 and Knuckles when you have two cartridges to load from instead of one.

I play all my old mega drive and PS1 games in 16:9 too. I always remember my mega drive or at least my master system games haveing black bars above and below the image. So the original game image was pretty close to 16:9 anyway.
