the gameboy games are meh, to me the point of tamagotchi is leaving it so it grows in real time. sounds like you would like tamagotchi connection V2, has the most features before satring to go downhill. although anything before connection V2 is good

Try Digimon Unlimited.

Might have to dig around for the latest version since it got pulled from play stores, but it's a pretty cool enhanced recreation of the pendulumn V-pets. And the evolution tree is fucking obscene.
