There are quite a few remixes in Mario Party 1. I kind of wish the other Mario Parties did that as well.

Does Mario Party 2 and 3 make Mario Party obsolete? I never played the first one.

Not at all. Like four or five minigames were remixed and put in two, but the rest are all unique to one. It also has its own boards. Doesn't have items or the bank, which could be a plus or a minus depending on what you think of those features, but it at least sets the game apart from its sequels.

Generally its also more brutal than the other games. Not just for palm drilling like >>3596198
but also for punishing players who lose minigames. Unlike other Mario Parties coins are often taken from the losing players and given to the winners, or if not given to the winner then just taken away. This isn't all the time but I'd say for roughly a third of the minigames it works this way. Otherwise its like the others where the winner just gets ten coins.

I played the games up to like 7 and 1 has always remained my favorite.
