Retro games with romhacks that are better than the original game. Not for romhacks that completely change the game like Super Metroid Redesign. But more so for romhacks that fix faults of the original like Simon's Quest Redaction.

Pic related as the romhack keeps the bugfixes and improved sprites of the american version, but reverts the censorship on the tiddies.

Obviously Simon's Quest is the big one with the patch which makes the game actually playable (also includes saving).

Other than that all I can think of is hacks which uncensor shit or make the game easier.

I do quite like that Zelda I hack which makes the world map revealable and changes the heart sprites.
