Thoughts on this game? I am intrigued by the setting and the design. Thinking about buying it since I haven't been able to emulate it properly.

One of my best friends during high school would talk about this game a lot during football practice. Hilarious. He wasn't exactly the person you would think played video games.

This game is badass. I played the original in 7th grade and was so surprised at how good it was. Had never heard of it before hand.

wild arms ripped off so many things, but I love it nevertheless. great game.

2 was a bit too ANIME with the Power Ranger MC and the loli vampire
3 was a bit too reverse harem
I enjoyed the first one the best
5 was a happy, if silly, medium

It's good. Music is good; combat is solid. Pretty straightforward game, but it's held up well over time. I never played the sequel, but I actually did like Wild ARMs 3, which I guess puts me in a minority. That was the last entry I played in the series. I know 3 isn't /vr/ but I'd recommend either of them.

I thought 3 was well-liked. If anything 4 was the unwanted stepchild.

What happened with four anyway? How would you compare it to the /vr/-entries?

I only played 1-3 but I recently re-purchased a PS2 and have been thinking about playing some of the later entries. Also Alter Code F seems to be hard as fuck to find which is a shame.

I haven't played it but people say it ditched the Western theme for a generic lush modern fantasy setting. It also used the hex system and it was awkward until 5 improved it. IIRC, Intrude (gives you extra actions) was abusable since it had a very cheap FP cost in that game. Finally there were jumping puzzles and various glitches.

Hopefully I can find a cheap copy someday and give it a shot. It and Alter Code F had ridiculous prices last time I checked.

Sure have, I didn't care much for the way the series ended but it can be argued for I suppose.

If this is a comparison between Wild Arms to the Gunslinger then I can kinda see that being the case, although plot-wise I'd say either Shadow Tower games is closer in scope.

>> No.361460

The mechanics are crap, but if you're only in it for the setting and stuff you will probably enjoy it.

Best version of the Ecstasy of Gold ever.

Can't agree with you more. The rest of the soundtrack is amazing too, especially the original opening. That theme gives me goosebumps every damn time.
