I've noticed some maps have this wierd visual bug. Most often when the mapper hides an enemy in the ground and has them pop up when I get near them.

physics aren't really my problem

currently i have two issues; the first is that regardless of how many ticks i put in before the grenade actor is supposed to detonate, it will explode as soon as it stops bouncing.

the second is that i'm kind of stumped when it comes to combining spinning frames with an actor that explodes after a set amount of time

this was a lot simpler when i was using vanilla doom assets as stand-ins

Don't use the "Death" state for the explosion; continue the countdown when it stops moving, then jump to a custom "Explode" state when the counter reaches zero. I'm pretty sure this is how ZDCMP does it.

Using a jump or goto to get to the death state doesn't actually "kill" an actor, so if a projectile jumps to its death state then properly dies during so, (touches something, runs out of bounces, etc) it will repeat the death state again from the beginning.

See the new ZDoom port of Immoral Conduct for how to make a reliably functional grenade, with a good shrapnel effect (wwhc-diaz.wad also has a very good shrapnel effect).
Shrapnel is a good idea for a hand grenade (a radial spray of bouncing and ripping tiny projectiles), it makes it a lot more useful, and if you pitch it into an enclosed area, the shrapnel bounces around like crazy in there doing fantastic damage (which arguably kind of gives you the effect of a real grenade exploding in a tight space; when that pressure has to go somewhere)

See Shut Up And Bleed for a grenade that is unreliably functional and sometimes disappears without exploding or exploding without doing any damage (but it shows easily how to make grenades as a quick-throw item a thing), don't emulate the thrown grenade actor from this mod.

DN1+2 are some apogee-ass apogee platformers.

the wizardworks expansion packs included in megaton vary in quality, and opinions vary, but everyone can agree that the xmas one is abysmal

the third person console games are fun enough, i honestly need to revisit them

manhattan project is a fun attempt at modernising the whole platformer thing

do not play the ds game, it's a rip-off of manhattan project that makes dnf look like the last of us

Duke Nukem 1 is a very standard DOS platformer, Duke Nukem 2 is a standard DOS platform but with more detail and color, 3D is a classic.

For the expansions, Duke Caribbean is a fun beach/vacation themed map pack, Duke It Out In D.C. is an okay set of maps that are suppose to look like places in Washington and Nuclear Winter is a terrible snow/christmas themed set that doesn't even need playing.

There's the PS1 Tomb Raider-esque games Time to Kill and Land of the Babes which are both pretty entertaining and have great music.

Then the other one I can think of is Manhatten Project, which is kind of like a 2.5D revisit to the style of gameplay Duke Nukem 2 had.

Then there's of course Forever which is a giant ball of mediocrity and stiff gameplay. And lastly 3D World Tour, basically another episode of Duke 3D for 20 bucks.

Not that Brutal Doom isn't a clusterfuck, but there's actually a legitimate reason for this. The reload key is part of the default zdoom binds, but only for ZDoom. Zandronum doesn't have it yet, and as that's what Mark aims for in terms of feature compatibility, it doesn't get used.

I was pretty pissed at the time that it was a platformer because Nukum Forever has been rumored about for like 8 years even then, but it's definitely worth playing if you want more Duke.

Mod idea: a script that removes enemies of the same type from the group if there's too many of them in certain radius, with options to:

Douk uses some wall portals to stick certain zones together even if it doesen't have to. In some cases enter and exit zones are a bit misaligned, and if you enter a portal under a certain angle in a certain spot it will teleport you inside the wall on the edge of the exit zone and that kills you.

I've had an idea about similar "Cannibal" demons. If you kill one of their bretheren, one of them might run up to the corpse and devour it, becoming a superior variant. If after that you kill that variant and one of the cannibals devours ITS corpse it will become even stronger Epic variant (even if before transformation he was regular one).

Another interesting (IMO) idea for the boss monster that later becomes reoccuring: The Cook. A fat demon that eats lesser demons, and if given time, spews out upgraded versions after some digestion time. If killed during upgrade process, a weaker version comes out instead.

It's quite a big patch, including three new monsters, a pile of Monster Balance updates and Oblige Random settings. it also includes a "Spellcross Monster Controller" which you can choose to control the amount of Spellcross Monsters being spawned to your preferred setting (or experimental one).

TechBroom suposedly doesn't have 2D views. Can't confirm because I don't use it.
Quark seems pretty... interesting. It has tons of options which while useful for tons of things, I never understood completely.
Worldcraft 3.3 with the Quake Adapter is the standard I believe, J.A.C.K. being just better in all its aspects and more.
In fact, I was going to try Quark again after years of not touching the game but J.A.C.K. seems so good it's pointless to change now, at least for me.

I was experimenting with converting a map to UDMF, and I was afraid it would break parts of the map, so I made a copy of the wad, and then proceeded. Indeed, quite a few parts of the map were kill by the process. So I went back and deleted the broken wad, to revert it to my copy. Now it displays this message.

The wad works fine when opened with slade, and seems to work fine in game too.

If you're using an nvidia gpu, you could set 320x200 as a custom resolution, and you should see an option for it then. Not sure if you can do this with amd.

So anybody has any idea why that teleporter line doesnt work ? If I noclip in the map, I can see the monsters walking back and forth over it without being teleported to their intended destination.

Brutal felt great to play, but /vr/ showed me Demonsteele, Trailblazer, Project MSX, GMOTA, DoomRL, Project Brutality, Colourful Hell, DoomRL Monsters-only; and Alien Vendetta, Valiant, Going Down Ancient Aliens, Community Chest 1-4 dat CC4

It's also nice when you find lesser known stuff that's still great. I love Wonderful Doom. Had a great playthrough of it with Project Brutality set to top tier monsters only.
