Hard to put into words really. I just really enjoyed the setting and the battle system.

I'm a sword man. The dragon transformation is probably my favorite skill in each game.

Katt/Lin.

Katt/Lin's staves and polearms, Lin's from Dragon Quarter guns; Katt's staff swing which she does in the hunting minigame, Lin's C'mere/Outta My Way/Shatter, Ryu 5's D-Breath.

Best story and one of the best turn based battle systems on the playstation. Plus the Chinese korean mythology is a nice change of pace compared to the standard castle and dragons we got.

BoF4 and BoF DQ
>Why
BoF4 is the only game besides DQ that does something original at least in terms of setting and aesthetic, which it does admittedly very well, it also has a decent game system and an amazing score, Ershin is a plus.
DQ is mechanically the best game in the series but at the same time is an almost complete departure from the series' standard, which is why many people hated it, so while it is the actual best game in the series for me it is also true that it's not considered a proper BoF, that's why I put it together with BoF4.

Ershin, Rand, most iterations of Deis.

I like Cray's wooden club a lot, in terms of skills, I guess most advanced BoF4 skills like Shadow Walk and Ershin's moveset are quite cute to look at, BoF3 dragon forms are also great.

I played Breath of Fire II years ago - never finished it but my favourite thing about it was the terrible translation, literally kept me laughing for as much of the game as I played.

Yeah, Cray's the one character who got the short end of the stick for some reason, he's built as a physical attacker but he's too slow to compete with the rest of the cast and while he can tank there's really no reason to do so, he shines in the early game since he can take quite a beating, but he gets more and more outclassed as Ryu gets access to better dragon forms and faster characters like Ursula get in the party, granted that by the end of the game you should be so powerful there's not much difference between parties except access to certain elements.
I still like his club though, it's pretty cool, and he's also quite a sympathetic character with a decent story.

BoF II. Really nice story, music, characters (loved that they each had their arc) and overall nice atmosphere. Was really surprised at it when I replayed it with the retranslation. I love IV for it's aesthetic and themes. I wish future games in the series had just been an evolution of the artstyle, mythos and music that IV had, but...

My favorite character(s) are Nina (II) and Bleu.

Favorite weapon I really can't say. Favorite skill is probably Nova from 1 because of the animation. It's weak as shit but when I was young and first played the game the animation made it feel like the most powerful move in the game.

I only played 2, 3, and then 4. I skipped 5 on purpose and I couldn't bring myself to play 1 when it seemed like 2-light.

Skills: Weretiger was always awesome. I used Nina's ability in 2 a lot for regaining free MP and healing... I dunno. Most of the skills are quasi-balanced, so there aren't a lot of cheap shots.
