Still, I can see how Gerudos are meant to be some sort of muslim/arab equivalent: they are dark skinned, live in the desert, have a different culture from the rest of Hyrule (but so do Gorons and Zoras for that matter), and on the original first version of OOT, the spirit temple and the mirror shield had the crescent moon and star.
Gerudos aren't evil, however. Ganondorf was just evil because he was hungry for power, regardless of his race.

That's what I mean about how language works. Semite isn't a commonly used word, the vast majority of people only know it in the context of "anti-semite" which is almost exclusively used to mean "anti-jewish".

It can be frustrating if you like language, but the root meaning of the word doesn't actually mean much if a compound word supersedes it's meaning. But also that's how all language is, and if it didn't happen English itself wouldn't exist. So at a point you have to put pedantry aside and accept that a word means what people as an aggregate decide that it means.

It's relevant to this board because the word "retro" itself is in flux at this very time. Also literally literally now means literally as well as the opposite of literally. Literally. It's crazy. Language is weird, yo.
