Name a flaw in Contra on NES.

I honestly can't think of any. It's a 10/10 action game.

- The weapons have no balance, going from S (which is the absolute best without anything coming close) to L (which is worse than the peashooter for anyone who can press B more than twice a second)
- The B powerups lasts so long you can skip almost half a stage if you just keep walking with it
- The point system is boring as all hell. Final boss gives about as many points as the rest of the game combined, making highscore runs nothing but rushing to the final boss over and over as fast as you can, skipping everything instead of actually fighting
- It doesn't have robots

Level 1, you may have a point. Beyond that, the bosses either have moments of invincibility, or require you to take them down in stages, during which(surprise!) they're attacking.

No argument that Spread is OP as fuck, but Laser is FAR from the worst powerup. That honor has been awarded to Fireball since Contra's inception. Laser can rack up the damage REALLY fast on a single target, whereas Spread is crowd control.

And it shows up in two stages. Not as big of a problem as one would think.

I've never liked point systems, so I won't even argue this.

The worst part about Contra is the lack of visibility in coop. The screen doesn't scroll correctly if there are two players, so if you don't have the levels memorized, you will just constantly have whoever is ahead die sudden unexpected deaths.

Which kinda proves you're not using the Laser right. Plus, I'm sure everyone loves to just mash that button repeatedly, which is why Machine Gun or even Rapid Fire are the minimum powerups people go for.

Completely contrary to my multiple playthroughs. I've seen it in Waterfall and Snow Field, never the others.

You practically lose all the strengths pixel art posses once you start upping the resolution. A lot of it came down to changing tiny details that would completely change how the image appeared. Metal Slug's breathing animation was accomplished by simply changing colors along the edges, and not by shifting parts around.
