I am so jealous of your stuff. Want them too, but that's the nature of Japan things very differently, practically in reverse to western thought. To combat piracy, which is easy on computer systems, the PC games are priced higher with more extravagant packaging, making one want to have the real thing instead of bootlegging. To continue on from my previous replies (>>3516339 and >>3516380), it is possible that the console versions may have cleaned things up from the PC versions, so maybe no "un-dress" in them (I have not played the console versions as much as the DOS version, demonstrated by the PCE 2 is still brand new unopened). Also, perhaps no one knows, but isn't it strange that the king/player suddenly has a little girl?

>>3516460
Yep, "MOPI = 1" as mentioned before. That is a heck of a "debug mode", because new art assets were made to accommodate Matilda's different ages, varying bust sizes, and physique/fitness.

I will say I spent way more time on the DOS version, as I liked its higher resolution in comparison with the Saturn version (which is a green labeled game, all ages, opposed to yellow, lewd, and red, nakedness allowed). As mentioned, I cannot say about the PC-Engine version, as it is still brand new. but I know the PC-Engine has games which shows nudity without issue/warnings as seen in moments prior to screenshot provided (to avoid the pink pixels and lack of steam, I had to use the end of the pan up of the scene because this is a Christian board). I am not sure if the console versions has the same special store because I felt it was best to primarily play the PC version.

As I recall, the dresses are actually a layer placed on top of the Daughter. The "un-dress" just removes the clothing layer entirely. It's a trick several games do.

Of course! The first and the second, the first one focused on Mana a new character (voiced by the same actress portraying Ayanami), but the second allows for Ayanami and Asuka to be potentials (and Kaworu if, someone is interested). In the Picture is PC version of 2, Saturn version of 1 (I originally played the first one on PC, and got the Saturn ones because they are $1USD each, but $10 shipping from Japan). Also in the pic up top is two strip mahjong games, which was why I got them direct from Gainax, 18+ games from the official source. At least you didn't go with the "Un-dress" and took the effort in taking screencaps at 17. Anyway, this demonstrates why I like the pixel art format of the DOS art I was mentioning throughout the thread.

>>3517367
Yeah, as time went on Sadamoto Yoshiyuki wanted to change from his perfected artstyle at the high point of Nadia to early Eva, and purposefully forced himself to go in weirder directions after reaching his pinnacle. As noted as the Eva series went on to FLCL. I guess it keeps an artist fresh given that he can always go back, opposed to reaching the max and staying there like Urushihara Satoshi (for /vr/ that would be the character designer/artist for the Langrisser/Warsong and Growlanser games amongst a lot of other more obscure ones).

As for the Collectors Discs, they are mostly screenshots and some silly "desktop accessories" which I am not sure works in Windows 10 at modern resolutions, especially now with pixels being so small (the things were pixel art too). I am missing vol.2 of the collector's discs and vol.1 of the screen savers disc because I was more brake than I was now when those came out. I know the stuff is available to download online, I even remember seeing a torrent for them. Sadly, I'm a bit lazy and I want to "clean up" my computer before bothering to upload. Also Mega doesn't quite work for me. Sorry (not that I don't want to share, I just really have that bad a computer).

Anyway, back to Princess Maker games. I loved the pixel art. Like another /vr/ thread, I really do appreciate and respect the effort in artistry creating images in high resolution with creative use of a restrictive low color count of a lot of old Japanese PC games. I understand it is an aesthetic taste of mine and just hope for options to switch between styles for PM2.

GoS2 looks like it was done by a completely different artist and staff. GoS1 was made by actual TV series staff.

About the collector's discs, I'm mostly interested in these silly desktop accessories, if you ever were to rip them and upload, make sure to somehow make a thread here on /vr/ or something!

Also, do you happen to know if the nude Mana scene was censored on the console versions of GoS? I always wondered that, I played the PS1 version along time ago but now I only have the PC version.

I preferred his earlier stuff without ... or light ... not the forests of modern days. I'd take a picture of some of the Urushihara Satoshi characters in games (some PC-Engine, some Saturn, etc.). Rest assured, as wholesome as some of the console games may be, like Growlanser as Sony Japan would not allow on their systems back then, the female characters will lose their clothes in one of his artbooks.

I am getting ready to sleep, so no more silly photos of stuff, so I'll just use one of my "representative MAME screencaps" (yes, I was so OCD many years ago to make my own snap.zip set of captures for a representative screenshot of every ROM in MAME typically showing off the cute female character, or cool scene, or at worst a title screen such that scrolling through everything can look interesting). First one with Urushihara character designs, nekkid, so let me edit it for this board. Yep, it is interesting to scroll through MAME on my computer.

Gainax games did empower a lot of artists ... I noticed the artist change from 2 to Dreams Come True (3) ... and it looks like 4 and 5 are another ...

The new Steam version may likely require some of the content to be cleaned up from their more. Some of which are pretty taboo and unacceptable in the format of videogames these days, still the gameplay I feel still stands strong and happy the games can reach a new generation of players.

We're talking about scaling an image with a height of 400 or 480 pixels to 600 pixels. At most you could leave it unscaled and end up with a tiny daughter and portraits.
Maybe you could mod the game to lower the resolution so that you can use the assets from the Towns port.
But why would you want that when the old versions exist?

I know, but the specifics are BS hard to get when you don't have a guide. Supposedly you have to stay within certain numbers to get the princess, just maxing it won't do.

I spent an insane amount of time learning how to get a quick start and now I don't have the energy for the rest.

For example

>you can get the money chests in desert of death first year if you know where they are and run straight to them, there's 50/50 chance you won't encounter any enemy

>take one chest every 3 weeks and you can send her to school for the first 2 years with no problem

>you can get the sword in the ice world in the same way, just run for it, it will make you invincible in the arena at low levels

>water and forest worlds are pretty useless, ignore them unless you need the sensitivity increase

>you can always win the art contest first year if you send her to school with the desert money

what do you consider the princess ending? marrying the prince really isn't that hard, you just need refinement/elegance and charisma/glamour for your stats (300 of each would be fine but i think one of them is actually lower than that), and to meet him every January. oh, and your daughter can never gain the 'in love' status because it lowers her affection points for the prince enough that she'll never marry him.

Most the titles there are just some stuff I got direct from the Gainax shop. Back in the day, one can order from Nihon falcom and Gainax directly with rudimentary English (props to their sales), and it was somewhat uncommon to find Japanese sellers open to foreign buyers (because of a few key loud bad apples ruining it for the rest of us, constantly harassing Japanese sellers/stores/distributors in those days, the remnants of those days can still be found with Yahoo! JP auctions by default lists "will not sell outside of Japan"). There were a whole line of "Eva to Yuukaina Nakamatati" games (Eva and good friends) typically of some mini-game variation with CG. However for raising sims like Princess Maker, I showed the Ayanami Raising Project >>3516450 earlier, and now I remember another called Mercurious Pretty where you raise a homunculus which was on the Dreamcast and PC-98 (lots of great stuff originated from those old Japanese computer games).

US 2 (and I think JP 2, not willing to play through again) has steam covering up the interesting parts. The Visual Collection, where I captured the image from, does not have the steam. As noted by the image name, type in that code in 3 to get a very nice topless pic of Rimu. In 4-2, Van walks in on Rimu taking a shower and yes, still naked, she at least goes topless in every game she's been in (and one she's not). So you can see, it was love at first sight for me when I was 5.

Gainax was gutted and most of their properties sold.

I am grateful for your appreciation. I just figure to make use of the image part of an image board. I too am not on 4chan often due to work, but it is nice spending some down time here in /vr/

That is some true dedication. I too had the feeling to send some funds to those that support/publish good games, but I have no illusions that it'll do much good since it is a niche game. I do love a lot of oddball games, and I am glad to read others do too.

It is pretty cute. However, some Japanese may be useful in order to play. https://youtu.be/_4XPe8TtXEE

This makes me sad I am unable to afford the equipment to enjoy the game at this time.

I guess it is all Korea and China these days to fund the development of strange games. Even this Korean portable had Princess Maker 2 (may be dated auction): http://www.ebay.com/itm/281552191548

Non-issue for me. Looks a bit creepy from that video you posted though.

Have you ever tried Tactical Fighter for the Saturn? It's supposedly also a raising sim but I've yet to try it myself.

>Most the titles there are just some stuff I got direct from the Gainax shop.

I also remember ordering stuff directly from them. This was the times before paypal and all that, I remember having to fax them my credit card front and back.
I mostly ordered DVDs and books though, I kind of regret not buying more PC CD-ROMs, I really wanted that Nadia desktop theme.
The only CD-ROM I ordered from them was Mahoromatic Digital Maiden.

I did say Mercurious Pretty is about raising a homunculus. I think those by default are supposed to be somewhat creepy.

As for Tactical Fighter, I haven't given it enough of a fair chance in time but so far it has not jived with me. It is a game where one does get to choose the character's routine, training regimen, work schedule, diet all for her fighting ability, so YES! The game very much is a raising sim! I had forgotten all about it until you just mentioned it.

I only remember sending my CC info direct. Still very cool they'd offer to sell and ship internationally. There will be regrets, but just know it was super expensive to ship from Japan, and I don't think that has changed much. So it is understandable given the price of the stuff we wanted, plus shipping made it prohibitive to acquire some things and you had to be judicious for what you chose to get.

I don't hate the US art, it's what I had in my youth, but I do honestly prefer the Japanese cover.

That makes her look like a proper sorceress, the US version makes her look like a pin-up.

You now realize that Alisia is the original Shanoa.
