I can actually read it perfectly aside from Kanji, it's just the understanding part that I have trouble with.

Neither your OP image nor the thread itself are particularly /vr/ themed. I know few jrpgs were you can self-insert tbqh. Most have clear cut main characters, unlike wrpgs.

Most popular jrpgs are retro. There haven't been too many popular ones released since the PS2 that aren't sequels to retro games. Everyone likes stuff like Pokemon Red or Final Fantasy 5.

Someone would make a boatload of money if they made a game that taught you Japanese and followed some sort of mobile/MMO daily grind to keep you practicing while introducing new concepts and kanji.
