We can all agree that isometric platforms (like Solstice and Knight Lore) were a terrible idea, right?

They were. Only people blinded by nostalgia would argue otherwise.

ISametic platformrers sUCK

Solstice on the NES is a great game, though? It's not particularly difficult to make the jumps and such once you get used to the controls, if that's what you're referring to.

Not all of it. Trying to climb the vines to Nimbus Land was frustrating as hell.

It's a troll thread, don't bother.

That was pretty much it. Unless I'm mistaken, the Nimbus vine section is the only part in the game where an isometric illusion occurs.

I was referring more to the Britbong isometric platformers where you wander from room to room, pushing blocks around and jumping over spikes.

Eh, growing up I had a Megadrive with one game; Landstalker. Needless to say I got pretty good at isometric platforming before too long

Solstice has a documentary. It's weird.

The vines aren't as hard as people make them out to be. The problem people have is that they deviate from pressing diagonal inputs for the platforming. There's only one jump that's difficult to make and that's because you can only grab the vine from the bottom due to the length of the jump.

Just note the shadows of the vines when you enter the screen and jump diagonally in those directions.

Surprised it wasn't Equinox. The developers seem up their own ass enough to do it.

>isometric platformers which allow 8 directional movement
Good
>isometric platformers that lock you to 4 directions that basically turn the d-pad from a cross to an X
bullshit
