This is a hobby that we all (supposedly) share, why be a shitter to a fellow hobbyist, even if you don't like him personally (though I doubt you even have a good reason for it). In fact, if he's such a "shitter", why do you even have that link, huh? It's almost like you....respect his opinion on vidya or something.

Pats opinion on Kid Icarus:

The only real experience I had playing this as a kid was when it
was in an M-82 demonstration unit at the Lionel Kiddie City store. I
thought it was very strange. I did not like the vertical scrolling of the
first level, and the grim reapers disturbed me. I never felt a need to

You why I'm not there? Because usually, /vr/ is better than that. This is usually one of the only places that just shares a love for this hobby, and for the most part, shares a common respect for other fellow collectors (even if you dislike certain things about them).

And yeah, you're absolutely right that this guy makes a living off of being knowledgeable about games, meaning you aren't stealing from some corporation or big business, you're stealing from some guy that collects and loves vidya.

This isn't about Pat in particular, I'd be saying this regardless of who wrote the book. It's a shitty thing to do. Have you written any books? Would you be super happy if someone was handing out links to it for free on a site that's supposed to be full of people that claim they care immensely about this hobby? I don't own his book either, I don't have the money for it right now. Guess what I'm doing? Waiting until I have enough money for it so I can buy it and support the writer. this is his opinion on megaman 3

>I’m kind of jealous of Proto Man, and not just for his killer
sense of style (he should go by Prada Man with the way he works that
scarf and shades combo). He’s also a complex, conflicted character
who’s independent to a fault. These details leave me intrigued,
yet not envious. What I want is his whistle. How cool would it be
to have a signature song to play everywhere you go, heralding your
awesome arrival? Of course, this type of fanfare is probably better in
theory than in practice. I got the dirtiest of looks and the nastiest of
shushes when I tried it. It’s probably only because my chosen theme
of “Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows” just isn’t as hip as Proto Man’s
bluesy riff. Then again, maybe I should have waited until the movie
was over

this is what he thinks of metal mech:

Tony Martin sounds like the name of a veteran NASCAR
driver. With this title and Metal Storm, it was the year of the mech on
the NES! This game obviously draws some inspiration from Blaster
Master, and even though it’s far inferior to that semi-classic, I still
enjoy it. I always liked the idea of mech games, such as Sega’s Virtual
On, which I enjoyed in the arcade, and I was this close to buying
MechWarrior 2 at Computer City as a teen. Instead, I ended up buying
Warcraft II and getting destroyed online by “grunt rushes.” – PC

But man is this layout fucking hard to look at. The page backgrounds make the cart renders and screenshots so hard to see against them. Yes to both your questions, but Pat's information is inaccurate in two ways.

The "Ice Ice!" title was never something official; it only comes from an old fan translation. A more accurate translation of the title would be "Go Go! Nekketsu Hockey Club: Multi-Sport Battle".

But in the context of its placement in the book, it's on a list of canceled western NES titles. The official English name of the game was going to be "Crash 'n the Boys: Ice Challenge", which is what he should've used.

That's only the reflection of the game, not the actual review which is far more detailed. This is just where he talks about his own personal experience of the game.

That's pretty common knowledge if you know anything about the NES library. Or if you're a hipster, is also 1/2 the inspiration for the rival band name in Scott Pilgrim vs the World.

Hi I'm Pat the NES Punk
This is my new review on Super Mario Bros. 3:

In this game you play as a fat italian plumber trying to rescue the Princess Toadstool from a dragon called Bowser. You can jump on your enemies to kill them. There's many power ups and items. The game has hidden secrets like the flute.

Reflection: I hate this game. While I was playing it my parents got divorced and my dog got run over by a car. I wish this game was never made. I also hate Charlie Brown for similar reasons. This made me remember once when I was eating at this place called Pizza Hut and I saw this kid wearing a Super Mario shirt. I had a personal pan pizza with onions and black olives. I like Katy Perry.

Rating: 1/5

I wonder if there's a Japanese book in the same vein that's actually good. I'd bet there are hundreds but I wouldn't know where to look.

Pretty mediocre list. Only skimmed through it and it claims Rhythm Tengoku uses only one button and doesn't require you to press a specific button (what the hell).

There's been quite a few Famicom retrospective books in Japan published during the milestone years (e.g. 2003, 2008, 2013). I remember one that was even bilingual and gave translated titles to almost every Famicom game ever made.

Prices for this are really dumb for a 2003 book. I've bought similar ones published in the 70s in great condition and the prices were reasonable. I'd get one for sure if it were reissued.

As an actual graphic designer experienced in print media layout, the layout work for this book is shit.

Given that he raised 150K via KS for this, the effort on display is shameful. He could have actually hired someone with real talent. Wouldn't have even cost that much, given how few layouts there are.

We are renting the game before deciding if we want to buy it, faggot. And so far it looks like it isn't worth it. I honestly wouldve bought it straight out of the gate but pat and Ian have slowly turned into insufferable faggots. Now I definitely won't buy it after looking at the scan.
