Metal Slug has better graphics, better animation, more detail, more powerups, better music, and 2 player coop play. It is also more challenging.

Mario World has more levels and it is easier (a legitimate reason since it is made for little kids).

Metal Slug is better, but it isn't for everyone the same way as Mario World is.
