Lol, this thread.

The red doors took five missiles because that's the way it was in the original Metroid. There was some continuity from NES to SNES. Most people playing the game would've been surprised (and probably pleased) if it opened on the first shot.

For those who for whatever reason did NOT play the original NES Metroid first, they would have to have either: a) RTFM, or b) use deductive reasoning. Considering the game was released during a time when the real packaging and manuals mattered, it starts to become extremely obvious that nothing at all was done wrong.

And here's something funny. I played Metroid Fusion first. Then Zero Mission. Then Super, on an emulator. Guess what? I still figured out how to OPERATE THE FUCKING DOOR! First try, even!

As said before, the stupid door flashes and makes a sound. It gives you feedback. Don't be so fucking dense, people.

See how sill that sounds?

Shooting doors as a mean to open it isn't exactly a convention that lots of games do. It's not obtuse at all given that it's already a special condition to open a door. So just because it's outside of your troubleshooting sense doesn't mean it's bad design.

Yeah, as in the setting were fucked with, making point B 100% valid. And no, CRT tvs weren't dim as shit, and, news flash, that was what was available at the time the game was made. Who are you even trying to fool?

Fucking mutt

Bitch, get an old TV set and try playing on it. I triple dare you!

No, the settings were ideal for the hour the owner used it. Not for 8 EARLIER.

And you son of a bitch certainly never lived in a 2nd world country where you'd either import lotsa expensive good tvs or buy the cheap national ones.

No one gives a fuck about how poor your shithole country is. When played on a normal TV with normal settings, it's perfectly easy to tell that the door flashes and makes a sound when you hit it with a missile. If you can't, it's purely your fault for using fucked up equipment and being incapable of reading the manual provided with the game.

As in they had been fucked with. Deviated from the factory setting. There is no "ideal setting for night", your little bitch friend just couldn't handle a little light in his face and fucked the settings up. Point B is still valid.

I was in the same boat as you dude, I played the Prime trilogy years ago, then AM2R and Zero Mission around when the former came out, then Super after for the first time and I was pretty confused by the change from 1 -> 5. You're not alone.
