I've heard XBLA is the best-optimized port.

>> No.3494829

I thought this will be a best version/port thread where people would post different video games.

It's just the PS1 version without the ending theme.

Well it's an inferior version then.

I wish the Saturn was a better port.

Saturn has the most features, too bad it runs like dogshit.

I still yearn for a version that has the saturn extras and options to switch between the text+audio of all American versions(psp, xbox, ps1), and the OG Japanese audio+text.

Also, perfect controls...Which is what the original had and part of what mars the psp experience(no dedicated button for mist form sucks).

You can just press both L and R to do mist form, right? Not a big deal.

PS1 = Xbox Arcade > PSP > Saturn

The Xbox Arcade port has less slowdown, but, also a lot more bugs that could affect you during gameplay. I.E. Rock Throwing knight having a fuck huge hitbox for some reason.

PSX has slowdown but also doesn't have as many bugs that would affect you during gameplay. So they're roughly on par.

PSP is based on the original PSX release with a lackluster localization. It's still serviceable due to the fact it's part of the Dracula X Chonricles.

Saturn has some extra stuff and some cool features, third item for items and such and new relics, but, runs too damn slow. It is literally unplayable on an original Saturn and only barely tolerable on an emulator.

Theoretically the best game should no slow down like the 360 version, all the features of the Saturn and PSP versions, and the original dub with a selection between Japanese/Revamp.

>with a lackluster localization

It has original japanese audio with english subs, that's the best kind of localization for me.
Also has the cut familiars from the JP version that aren't on western PS1/XBLA versions.

The PS1 version has a cool literate localization, though. Granfaloon is a neat name for Legion if you know Vonnegut.

>>3495238
Lots of Tolkien references as well.

Yeah I liked that Vonnegut reference, but he's still called Granfalloon on the PSP version as well.

Personally I think the pros of the Saturn version largely makes up for its cons. The double-tap running in the reverse castle, alone, makes the game so much more fun and that's without mentionning the new areas with new graphics, new musics, new enemies, new weapons, new items, etc.
