So how do most of you collectors keep all of your consoles organized without making everything a fucking wired mess?

Honestly I just keep one console out at a time and have all of the others in a box. It may not be aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but at least it's clean.

>> No.349490

One of my friends lived next to a thrift store and whenever they threw out vacuum cleaners he would bust them open and get out those cord-retractor rigs they have for the power cord. Then he rigged up his wired gamepads so they used the retractor wheel. It was cool but they frequently fucked up and got derailed and it ended up kind of a mess.

>> No.349493

It's important to cover your consoles with some kind of sheet / cover to keep the dust out.

>> No.349509

My setup is a clusterfuck of wires, but it's organized in a way that you can't see any of it, it's all hidden. It's a real bitch when I have to change anything, though.

>> No.349534

What if you built a little shelf for each console, and have them all hooked up to the tv in a circle, bringing to mind the elephant gods of hindu like your tv has many little arms? And each hand is a little shrine holding that specific console and some often-used games, and maybe a poster pertaining to it on the back. I'm gonna do that when I get enough consoles, then display a giant face on the tv

I just try to condense my consoles the best I can.

>Original PS3 model that plays PS1/PS2/PS3 games
>Retron 3 (clone console that plays Nes/Snes/Genesis games)
>Wii (Plays my Gamecube games)
>N64
>GBASP (for GB/color/advance games)
>3DS (Plays my DS games)

This is why backwards compatibility is important, so we don't have to have twenty consoles that we don't know what to do with.

>> No.349843

Is Retron just as good as the original retail experience? As in no graphical/sound issues and slowdowns?

The retron 2 is pretty damned close to the real deal. It behaves just like an NES and SNES for better and for worse.

I don't know about the Retron 3 but you can use the original controllers on it.

>> No.349893

>>349843
It allows two Genesis, Nes, and Snes controllers on the front and sides of the console, so six controller ports in all. Also from what I've experienced it's pretty much identical to the original consoles as far as visuals and audio goes. I love the damn thing. I hear there's a Retron 4 coming out that allows GBA and Famicom cartridges to be played on it, so if that's true I'd wait for that. Either way, it's totally worth it.

I'm way too much of a hardcore collector for clone consoles. I don't like when things aren't super accurate (unless it's an emulator or something). Plus I have a Sega CD and 32X. Shit sucks sometimes.

When I had many consoles I modded them to use as many common power/av cords as possible.

Add a DB15 socket on the back of the console, wired up for all the various signals using a common pinout. Make a custom cable that provides composite, RGB and stereo audio. Internalize any powerbricks/transformers using modern, smaller and more efficient equivalents and wire them up to C14 sockets on the back of the console.

They were quite nice.

I keep all my stuff in a box with some padding paper and rubber bands for the cords. I only use one retro system at a time, which tends to save on space since I only switch out consoles once every month or two.

Like this;

Wires in the back are hidden for the most part.

PS2's controller is usually wrapped up ontop of the system, but is up in the Genesis tray in this picture for some reason.

Big bookshelf. One shelf dedicated to each console. The console and all games and accessories/controllers sit together. The wires all run behind to an a/v splitter which run to the tv. It looks pretty clean, much better than op pic. op just looks like a guy who went ebay happy.

See this fucking thing? I love it. As much as I love my NES and my SNES, just being able to have this hooked up to my N64 for all three systems means I don't have to have to deal with half as much wires as I would otherwise.

Controller is great for 2D sidescrollers, ironically.

Something like this might fit your theme. 39 inches wide and 15 inches deep. You could make holders along the back and top that hold the controller, and the cord could dangle straight down. There are various other sizes too.

Did you just confuse console clones that are made to emulate multiple systems with a retail system and game that were designed to actually be played together?

I might be reading too much into what you're saying, but the emulation/clone group in /vr/ really has some people with screws loose.
