And in SML2, that one song that has the 'cha cha cha' part, I have to tap my fingers/stomp my feet to something in the rhythm.

We all did at least one of these 'rituals' as kids....I don't know why there are anons pretending they didn't do it. Even if it was something as simple as singing along with a particular tune

Street Fighter 2 (SNES): Used to imitate poses after winning a round. My favorites were Ryu's "cross arms and look to the side" pose, E. Honda's "Oof Gooey!" pose where he twists his head around and has one arm stretched out in front, and Dhalsim's boogeyman dance from side to side

Super Mario Kart (SNES): used to make random baby crying noises whenever I won a race as Toad and his music played, since his music sounded like baby music. Also used to put the controller down and do random salsa/merengue dancing after winning as Luigi, since his music sounded like some Spanish/Mexican song

Sonic 2 (Genesis): Now this is an especially weird one, and I wonder if I'm the only person who ever normally did this. You know how after you finish a zone's act at the end, there's a short tune that goes:

"Da-da-dun dun,
da-da-dun dun,
da-da-dun dun......
da-da-da duuuuuun!"

Right before the very last "duuuuuun!" note, I would pause and unpause the game as quickly as possible. What this would do was instead of hearing the full "duuuuuun" note, you'd hear a higher, quieter, warbly version of the note that sounded cool as hell. I loved doing that.

I (and several friends) chant "Bowser! Bowser! Bowser!" whenever landing on a Bowser space in Mario Party.

Of my friends, I generally win 8-9 games out of ten when we play any of the Mario Party series. Once, while playing with one of my friends (us two versus two NPCs), he was having an awful game and just couldn't get going. So, on a whim, he actively started trying to go to Bowser or land on a Bowser space at every opportunity. After bagging nearly a hundred coins on a Bowser Revolution, he went on a tear and pulled off the comeback.

Not long after that, during our next game, I had an absolutely awful round going and hit Bowser with no money and no stars... Bowser actually felt bad enough for me that he gave me a coin (I may have yelled "I DON'T NEED YOUR PITY!" at the TV in a fit of laughter). Once that happened, I went on a blistering run and went from worst to first.

Ever since, we always chant Bowser when landing on a Bowser space, and even usually prioritize landing on them above not - in fact, if we don't have a good reason, we pretty much always DO pick the Bowser space first.

For Bowser's wisdom is infinite, and if he takes our money it is for good cause.

Aw man, I definitely had a ritual with Super Mario Bros. 3...........but the SNES All-Stars version

That version had the best-sounding music for World 7, The Pipe World

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4rrefSgjO0

Every time I returned to the map from gameplay, I used to spend at least a minute listening to the music and snapping my fingers to the beat like I some West Side Story character leaning up against a wall and trying to look gangsta

And there was a sound effect that played whenever you moved Mario to a different spot on the map. What I also did sometimes was I would constantly move Mario back and forth between two different spots, trying to get the sound effect to be on beat with the music

For people asking about autism and such, it is worth pointing out that people got the early systems for the games that they love, not to be part of a pretend console war. Likewise the systems were made to have fun on. The SNES reject button literally didn't do anything, it was added because it was fun to push and have your cart launch out.

>t'was a cold, cold christmas eve
>you were there, waiting for me
That's actually really sweet

>For some bizarre reason, every time I hear this I imagine cartoon dinosaurs rapping about "niggers in Zion". I literally have no idea where that came from.

I tried doing that as well when I played Ninja Gaiden NES. It was absolutely useless but it looked cool.

That 'notion' is The Emotions....an old female singing group whose song 'Best Of My Love' was used to make that part of the Labyrinth Zone music

I used to make up stupid lyrics to game music to make myself and friends laugh. One I remember, starting at about 0:13...

>Puff, the dragon
>Puff the retarded dragon
>Puff, the dragon
>Puff the retarded... dra-gon!

Also, there was a kid called "Ben" we didn't like, so sometimes "Puff the dragon" became "Ben's a faggot." Good times.

I did the whip posing jump as well. Forgot about that.

Another Contra 3 thing: When I killed the brain boss, I liked to try and end with a homing missile and fire it so that missiles infinitely circled around him in death.

Also, in SMB3 when you killed one of the dudes in a fortress and he turned into a question mark ball I would always grab it quickly because I thought if you left it he would revive. I think one of my cousins told me that as a kid and I've always believed it.

Yeah good point. That Emotions song by Mariah Carey seems similar too. Probably what the title is a reference too.

I always saw a resemblance between Sonic 1's special stage music and Go Now by the Moody Blues.

No, but one thing I also do is on level 2 after you blow out the red orb on the spider boss, I walk over it and tap b quickly so it looks like I'm fucking it.

At the end of Sonic 2 Genesis bosses after pressing the creature release platform my friend and I would always stand Sonic right on the edge of the button so he would "swim".

In Crash Bandicoot 3 I'd enter levels with a body slam.
Also made used the bazooka to kill enemies by aiming at their crotches.

In Kirby Superstar would use Stone power to see the naked statue and have a shit fit with the mates. Also imitate the mic power expressions. Piss off Scarfy's and make them chase then laugh when they explode.

In Twisted Metal Black would sing Ready for Love by Bad Company when falling off a cliff.

When I got into emulation I'd screencap cleavage shots then go on ms paint and shoop naked tits on them to get a boner.

In DKC would always jump in Candy's save barrel just before the kiss would hit me.
