>I have a dreamcast

My dude. Just finally got around to picking one up last weekend and it was one of the last systems I needed, already picked up 3 controllers and a VMU, 1 controller was clear smoke and the other clear red. My local retro store didn't have much and there's nothing on craigslist but I did manage to get Sonic Adventure 1&2, sonic shuffle, dead or alive 2 and walt disney world quest magical racing tour. I would also like some recommendations.

just get some CR-R's and burn them with imgburn (no config needed).

Rez is a really good rhythmic rail shooter
I really like Super Magnetic Neo (puzzley-platformer) but it doesn't get that much love.
That disney racing game is actually pretty good, props on that.
The resident evil games for DC are really good if you don't want to play the ones on gamecube or computer
Jet Set Radio is really good (as is the sequel for xbox)

A lot of the Dreamcast's magic is in multiplayer, so if you have friends download Power Stone 1 or 2, NFL 2k1, Quake 3.

I've been playing a lot of Under Defeat which is a shmup that kicks my ass a lot. Good if you're into that sort of thing.

I love the DC and I hadn't even heard of one. Thanks anon! Will probably check out the disney game as well. (I'm not OP)

and Under Defeat is the shit

My Under Defeat game kept giving me more credits as I kept playing, is that normal? After a while of playing I started with 4 credits and then 5 even though it's set to 3 in the settings.

I haven't got gotten past stage 1-4. I don't even know why I play this game it just makes me shout at my TV.

I get sad when I play my dreamcast/look at these recommended lists because dreamcast was the fucking best and could have been so much more... but then I remember how Sega fucked over it's consumers and retailers so I guess that's just what happens.

How could it possibly ruin the laser?

>> No.3471712

>>3471690
Recordable media tends to be less reflective than their static counterparts, meaning that the laser has to work harder to read the data.

>> No.3471803

>>3471690

It wears itself out having to move much more than on a GD rom..

IIRC GD roms have stuff tightly packed together so it doesn't have to move too much to find it, with a CD it needs to start at the beginning of the disc to find the data to read everytime it needs to load something since it doesn't know where exactly the data is.

A lot of this is holdover from back when the Dreamcast was relevant, so it's WAY overblown, like 95%.

Back then ripping and burning discs was less configurable due to the way CD drives were made, so all the data was scattered across the disc, leading to constant searching (the spinning noise).

Modern DVD drives don't have this issue, so if you burn it properly you should be fine, just make sure it isn't any noisier than a GDrom.

It's still not perfect, but consoles die out constantly for no reason anyway.

what is a good emulator for dreamcast? and where good i find a good tutorial for nulldc?

>> No.3477265

It's still down to the game being properly ripped though. Any modern release should be fine.

NullDC is pretty good.

It's a pretty simple process to set it up, I figured it out on my own. No tutorial needed.
