What are some examples of games where the console port is superior to the arcade port?

Like for example:

- Bionic Commando for the NES
- Solar Fox for the Atari 2600

Presentation-wise it's worse in every aspect. Gameplay-wise both are fine but pretty different, the arcade is a lot tougher.

downgraded graphics + slowdowns and the briefing system was eh, it was different i guess

Double Dragon III for the NES. Every other port of the game tried to copy the shitty arcade game, while the NES version did its own thing.

Golden Axe. You can never go wrong with some good ol' Golden Axe.

I might get some shit for this, but I liked Gauntlet Legends N64 more than the arcade version.

Bionic Commando isn't a port.

Renegade was big enough on consoles and computers to get 2 exclusive sequels, but I'm not sure if they're actually superior or if Commodore players just had low standards.

DD 1-3 are better on NES imo.

Ms. Pac-man on MD is great because you get more mazes and 2 player and stuff.

Not really a port though is it.
The only one i can think of off the top of my head is Ghosts n Goblins Arcade Edition on the c64.

Also not a port.

Probably the best example here.

Presentation wise? Come now. Because the SNES version is totally missing out without the training mode that stops after 3 levels and a completely out-of-place 3D level? Not to mention the nutty mechanical base enemies. I'm glad the SNES version was made and removed the oddities.

Personally prefer the SNES version of Turtles in Time.

Combat system got a complete overhaul so that there's some actual weight and connection to your attacks instead of just flailing around aimlessly. Throw and dash were implemented as something that can be done on command. New levels and bosses. I prefer the soundtrack arrangements they did for the SNES version over the arcade versions.

It takes a hit in animation and the lack of 4 players, but that's something I can eat because of the overall improvements the game received. It's a shame there's no real definitive version that combines the best aspects of the arcade and SNES version.

Can you really call it a port if it's a totally different game?

I like Ms. Pac Man for the Atari 2600 more than the original. Maybe it's the 4:3 map, maybe it's that it's slightly easier than the others, I don't know.
