So, i know you guys don't like frontends that much, but fuck it i have nowhere else to ask

Are all the frontends still shit and insanely convoluted to configurate or shit changed during these past months i was away from the scene? I'm setting up my old laptop as an emulation machine in the kids room and i wanted something pretty and easy for them to play around with without downloading dolphin porn to the HD and etcetera

Free if possible though. Heard about Hyperspin and Launchbox having paid versions, but i'm already buying this shit physical, i'm not paying for emulation ffs

I used to use Hyperspin but it's a pig to set up and it's pretty bloated.

Launchbox now does coverflow of a sort and the Hyperspin wheel style so it's an ok successor.

Have a look at its youtube videos and see for yourself.

i don't want to leave everything out open for them to move shit around. i want to leave it open on a frontend 24/7 just pick the controllers and play
