I bought a multi-cart that had Super Mario 5 and 6 on it.
5 was basically the same as Super Mario 1. No changes at all, even to the title screen (probably why it wasn't released worldwide).
Mario 6 though was completely different. It played and looked just like Adventure Island only it had Mario instead of Master Higgins.

That's the only Waverace I've played but I really like it. Definitely doesn't run at 20fps.

It has better graphix and more framerate but I didn't really like it as much as WR64.
IIRC it wasn't developed by EAD (who were at full force during the N64 era doing arcade games, like F-Zero X and 1080), but some american developer.

Wave Race 64 is probably like other Nintendo developed games which resd input at 60 fps but only display every 2nd or 3rd frame.
