He also bought Sinclair and _continued producing and upgrading the Spectrum_, a competing computer. There used to be 4 different companies making licensed games of soccer, hockey, basketball, etc but now there is only EA.
EA sports games have severe bugs that can even break multiplayer but they never patch these problems.

They simply release next yearly revision and all the normies rush to buy it for the roster update.

Now they have microtransactions where you pay real life money to recruit players with 99 in every stat and steamroll opponents online.

The sad thing is EA will never be punished economically for their abusive practices; FIFA sales alone are enough to keep them in the green indefinitely.

The DC sales were decent, it sold about as good as the PS3 and better than the Wii U.
SEGA spent too much money on games that weren't profitable like Shenmue and inefficient marketing like being the kit sponsor for European football clubs.
The Xbox consoles were a money pit for Microsoft too but it wasn't a problem for them at all financially, they didn't care about profits only about market share.

Here's the thing about Dreamcast, hardware sales made no profit, it was all reliant on game sales to make up the difference. However, on virtually any console, it takes years for sufficient game sales to build up to actually make bank.

Sega had an enormous debt from the Saturn era and it caught up to them before the Dreamcast software sales would have come to bail them out. Even though the Dreamcast sold very well, it needed to sell exceptionally well to meet that objective. Sega pulled the plug because they didn't want repo men coming in to repossess their shit
