Everything is perfect except the game itself, it felt dull. Even bosses where boring. Also, generic and plain story.

The OST is amazing though
Possibly even better than the 1st

>> No.3390743

glitches all over the place and kevin is a fucking monster than can solo the game on any of his classes, and one of his classes can be the primary healer while still being the highest damage character in the game

>> No.3390810

It may look as if it works as intended but under the hood it's held together with duct tape.

>no charging
Charging was bullshit in Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy Adventure, but especially in Secret of Mana. There was no point charging past level 2, and max level charge is just one long waste of time. Not to mention you come to a crawl in speed while charging, so you can't move around. Also the grinding took forever and was ridiculous since you had to level with every character and every weapon you wanted to use. I remember some of the charged moves were such bullshit because of how hitstun worked in this game. I remember there are some badass glove charge animations that do a crazy looking combo, but the first attack hitstuns the enemy while the rest of the combo whiffs.

The only thing that went wrong is that the games difficulty is laughably easy compared to the complexities its class system brings in

I rate this game next to CT and EB

>> No.3393687

>>3390856
Actually when you hitstun an enemy with magic or an attack your other characters can land a hit to add to the damage counter, stacking up to 999

you can easily do this with two magic attacks juggling back and forth and keeping the enemy in stun, or just stack a charge attack with the boy while the sprite locks him down and the girl does support roles

which is what you're supposed to do

SD3 is definitely not the worst.

I think you can make an argument that SoM is the worst one (a rather convincing argument) but SD3 is definitely better, more polished, and more fun to play.

Legend is a beautiful game, but it's heavily flawed. Mainly being way too easy, not that the games are known for their difficulty.

>> No.3393978

Best fighting system: FFA
Best story/theme/visuals: LoM

Pretty OK: SoM
Looks pretty, plays like shit: SD3

Are you telling me you got a game over in SD3 anon?
>>3393973
Among the first 4 titles it absolutely is. In terms of polish; the menus are slow as shit, battle transitions are annoying, grinding is at some point asked of you instead of being something you can ignore, the class system has you making choices while being blind to the actual results, shit bugs and meaningless unimplemented content, from an action real-time standpoint it is the least fluid and interactive.

SD3 is almost entirely not meaningful in it's exploration, you find items sometimes sure, but mostly the pace is set with you going on fetch quests, then you go to an area with monsters, you make it to the boss, you go on a fetch quest, area with monsters, fight the boss, repeat repeat repeat. All there is to find in the areas is more rooms with more monsters or a save point or your destination.

What SD3 really has going for it beautiful spritework and monster designs and spell animations. In this regard Legend of Mana shits all over it and even Secret of Mana has more interesting and better looking environments to explore. In terms of combat in SD3 everything boils down to buffing yourself and debuffing the enemy, and if not only just exactly that, you will use a big attack, you will heal, and then you will use a big attack. That or you'll just hammer the shit out of things with nothing but normal physical attacks, of which there is only one variety per character. In terms of being a punching bag simulator, at least Legend of Mana has combos and tasks you with dodging attacks or picking your battles.

I still like SD3, but I openly acknowledge it as the weakest in the series. Weakest, most cliched, least inspired plotlines. Laziest atmosphere and dialogue and pacing just aping the earlier titles. Kikuta's worst sound track. Lowest impact feels. Least memorable set pieces and events.

It's just very mediocre.

>> No.3394030

never played SD, and never will. i'm probably better off treating it as a mystical thing and the object of my deep-seated and intimate longing for More Secret Of Mana.

how would you have wanted your sequel to secret of mana, guys?

>> No.3394113

the world, lore, game themes, plot arcs of the games are fantstic, people just want combat that feels as good as it looks. Its fitting that hawkeye and ff14's ninja class share similar animations. That mmo could really benefit from a ring menu system like you can get in world of warcraft

legend of mana was special beacuse it had some diablo 2 in its dna. The secret of mana games have been fairly straight foreward action RPGs, but legend of mana was like an mmo lite/ attempt at an open world game. The game feels really alive every time i play it.

smoosh all the systems from sd3 and sd4 together. class and plot focus for mc like sd3, pets, crafting, custom spells, dodge abilitys like sd4. Enemys that can kill u. More quests and weird world building. Combine the AF system with rng maps for dungeon areas to create more replayablity, allow massive co up. Bring back some zelda/golden sun ish terrian interactions.

is there like a licensing issue that is blocking the game? Because you'd think it would at least get a digital release or something.

Legend has the best music, writing, graphics, and atmosphere in the entire series--and also when compared to many other JRPGs. It has the easiest combat, but when the combat is braindead-easy in every game in the series anyway then who really gives a shit?

>> No.3394624

>>3394442
SoM is probably the better game, actually.

SD3 is a good game, but its so filled with bugs and shit, that I think people have realized that SoM and SoE are far mor consistent games, because honestly, even with all the class depth, it really doesn't matter when half the stats don't function, does it?

how hard and expensive would it technically be to rebuild SD3 from the ground up? can't they like, put some interns at it.

I think the fact that a regular enemy has a counter like that might actually qualify as artificial difficulty.

It's literally the strongest attack from your strongest character and it can pretty much kill everyone from full health if you're underleveled.
