I have an nes emulator for wii... and it scrolls really bad and is blocky... most know what this means and why this happens, but does anyone know how to fix it or is there just no good nes emulator for wii?

what emulator are you using? FCE ultra runs NES games perfectly on the wii.

it runs perfectly but it is blocky when it scrolls.. it has a filter and when that's turned on it seems to smooth it out nice enough and from far away you can't notice it's filtered... but without the filter you can notice it's blocky

Just tell us which goddamn emulator you're using. If it's not FCE, then switch to FCE. Problem solved.

1) turn off filters
2) set resolution to "Original"

yeah it's fce but there is no alternative.

Try RetroArch with the Nestopia core.

Do you refer to the part outside the actual game that has garbled data and such? There's a thing for that:

1) Play on Original on an old TV
2)There's something in the Video options like Limit screen or something of the sort, and you can select either Horizontal or Vertical or Both to avoid this.

>> No.3381882

Usually this has to do with the resolution, try 240p ("original") with no filters or anything like that, also make sure it's the most up-to-date version. Alternatively try one of the Retroarch cores.

I think this thread is semi-related, so, I'll just post here instead of making a new thread.

What's the advantages of using individual emulators vs using Retroarch for the Wii? I'm not trying to troll or anything, but, it seems really convenient to just use Retroarch Wii instead of downloading individual emulators for it. Are they more fine tuned than the cores in RA? I'm just curious since I'll probably be doing a lot more gaming on my Wii now that I got my small CRTV next to me at my computer.

Mainly that RetroArch on the Wii is a meme and total garbage. If you want to spend 30-40 hours configuring a broken mess with a Wii Remote, by all means use RetroArch. If you want to play games in 240p without any issues, use the 4 different emulators you'll need.

One day I'm going to get a Wii and see how long it takes me to configure it vs the Windows version, to see if this is true.

The main problem is that you can't just CAD and fire it back up again each time you fuck a setting up and it crashes (this happens often.) instead you have to get up, walk over to your Wii, and hold down the power button until it reboots. Sometimes it won't even do that and you have to take the power out. Then add in the time it takes you to take the SD card out and manually edit the CFG file each time you accidentally set a resolution that your TV doesn't support and messes up the screen.

PC is just as annoying, but the annoyance is mitigated by the usual things you can do on a PC that you can't on a Wii.

The blockiness is the correct way because Nintendo game designers forgot their games would be played on CRT tvs. That's why in screenshots you don't have smoothened graphics, except most of the time when you do. Mario is supposed to be made of blocks as envisaged by Miyamoto, like lego bricks or Minecraft.

The average chump doesn't know about or consider this at all, only really smart people like me in the elite circle are in the know about this - they wanted things to be in blocks. I sometimes think about people and their CRT emulators and shaders and whatnot and laugh at those pathetic fools.

Hello, I didn't find an Emulation General so I figured I'd ask my question here. I also installed the same Emulator to my Wii. While I don't have the block problem, the emulator runs really fast and I haven't been able to figure out how to make it play at the normal speed. Any one have this problem as well?

Castlevania doesn't do that though, it scrolls at 60 fps.

Are you playing PAL games? Try adjusting the video region [60Hz/50Hz] in the emulator settings.

>> No.3384638

>>3383972
No I'm not. I've tried adjusting that setting and the emulator stops working. I have to reinstall it because I don't know which is the settings file.

Ok I resolved the problem by changing the game speed from NTSC to PAL. I have the North American version of the games but for whatever reason this resolved it. Thanks!

You should actually turn filters on if you want to prevent the "blocky" aspect (whatever that means)

The scrolling issue might as well be due to scaling artefacts... or it's just your shitty LCD TV
