Arcade Battletoads bores me to death and feels wrong to me when trying to control anyone.

After that, I think any horror games (too easy to spook and most of them are kinda RPG's which I despise), retro Resident Evil (the controls are fucked up) and any RPG (I couldn't give a damn about a story without any gameplay whatsoever)

Shining Force 2. I fucking love Shining in the Darkness and the first Shining Force, but I always lose interest around the kraken in 2. The game feels solid up until you flee to the continent, but then your objectives are poorly defined and Parmecia is just too samey. I can appreciate the much improved terrain placement in battle over the first one though, and the battle in the cave with no light was cool, and the menus and interface in general being much snappier is appreciated. But nothing feels as polished as in the first game. The translation feels stilted, the character portraits are cartoonier, none of the towns are as interesting, and the many hidden objects you need a guide to discover are bullshit. I'm hoping something clicks eventually since the game just doesn't feel as tightly constructed overall.

Hi, I'm Gregg and I work at Gamestop. I have a simple message for the members of this forum.
DON'T EVER, EVER, EVER FUCKING CALL UP MY PLACE OF WORK AGAIN. I KNOW YOU PATHETIC FUCKS DON'T HAVE JOBS OF YOUR OWN AND YOUR PARENTS PAY FOR YOUR SKYPE AND YOUR INTERNET ACCESS AND YOU HAVE NO CLUE HOW HARD IT IS TO ACTUALLY WORK A FULL TIME JOB.
WHAT YOU FUCKHEADS DON'T REALIZE IS BY YOU CALLING AND ASKING FOR WARFROGS OR WHAT THE FUCK EVER YOU FUCKERS SAY OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, IT TAKES UP PRECIOUS TIME WHICH WE NEED TO HELP ACTUAL CUSTOMERS.
YOU ARE MAKING US LOSE MONEY. AND BY 'US' I MEAN THE EMPLOYEES. EVERY PRANK CALL THE STORE WE WORK AT RECEIVES, WE LOSE HOWEVER AMOUNT OF TIME WE SPEND ON THE PHONE TALKING TO YOU COMES RIGHT OUT OF OUR MEASLY PAYCHECKS.
SO FUCK OFF IT ISN'T FUNNY AND OUR STORE AT LEAST HAS ALREADY CONTACTED THE AUTHORITIES AND YES THERE IS ACTION WE CAN PURSUE AGAINST THIS MESSAGEBOARD.

Agreed with that (although I never played Arcade Battletoads. Love the NES version tho). I remember really liking Resident Evil when it was new but the controls do really suck and make it more frustrating than it has to be.

I can't get into RPGs either. Although maybe its my ADD riddled brain. Just have no patience for that stuff. Far prefer arcade type action.

>Breath of Fire 3
God damn this game was boring. The soundtrack was very disappointing as well, especially compared to the first game. I gotta say though, I do really like Momo.
>Earthbound
I've never cared for Earthbound, and if you bring this up in a group of old friends they seem offended that you don't like their absolute favourite game.
>Fallout
I gave this one a lot of time to try to get into it, too. I went into this hyped up and expecting something like Diablo, so that could explain my disappointment in it.
>Gradius series
I don't like the upgrade/power up system. I feel like i'll always be alone on this one.
>every Pokémon after red/blue
No reason other than I completely lost interest in Pokémon by the time new ones came out after red and blue.
>majority of Fighting Games

>Streets of Rage 3

>Dr.Robotniks Mean Bean Machine

>> No.3386889

>Any 8-bit RPG
Don't get me wrong, I really like RPGs. I think it's that I'm spoiled by more advanced interfaces. There's a real tedium in a clunky menu. Even the little things like a lack of easily accessible stats on how new equipment compares to old equipment are very frustrating. Also some of the commands, I assume due to limitations in character space, can have gibberish names leaving me with spells or items that are a complete mystery.

I'm sure if I'd played them back in the day I would have enjoyed them. But at this point almost everything they offer is done better almost everywhere else.

There are some cool sprites though.

The opposite happened for me. I can't really get into any other Zelda besides Wind Waker when I was a kid, but I recently played NES Zelda for the first time and I thought it was so much fun. I died over 100 times though, and the last dungeon was a bitch so I used walkthroughs after I found the light arrows. You just need to wander around and talk to hobos and you stumble upon everything and it's so much fun.

I moved on to Link ot the Past for the first time and I just hate how they literally mark everything on your map.

I've tried to get into the first game ever since beating OoT as a kid, but I simply can't figure out where to go or what to do past the first dungeon.

I also haven't been able to get into any other modern Zelda since I get that uncanny feeling that I'm just replaying OoT over and over again.

I agree with OP here. I had a much different interpretation of this game before I actually played it. I thought it was mostly a beat em up. Then I play it realizing that it's more a platformer and autoscroller then it is a beat em up. The game is also hard to a fault.

It could have been a lot better then what it is had the game been more like River City Ransom or similar beat em up games. It's an okay game but I was expecting something better is all. It's just not for me.

Turn Based Strategy games, like Fire Emblem or Heroes of Might and Magic. I love RTS games, and TBS games just feel like RTS without any sort of skill involved.
