it's interesting how good SNK was at the whole global diversity thing.

For a long time their biggest hero was pure American. None of this 3/4th Japanese crap and they even had the whole universe bet set in Southtown USA before going international with KOF.

And yeah they got the usual YOUNG JAPANESE HERO thing going now there's still a shit town of Americans, a shit town of Hispanics, plenty of Koreans, a Canadian or two, some Italians etc

But yeah, how exactly would you make a Finnish character for fighting game? There's not exactly lots of concrete stereotypes that could be used, compared to lots of other countries.

Anna and Nina Williams are the only fighting game characters from my country (Ireland) that I can think of right now. You'd think there would be more, given how stereotypical these games usually are and how easy it would be insert a fiery haired, beer guzzling pub brawler into practically any fighting game series. I suppose I should be happy at least that the Williams sisters are so devoid of stereotyping that nobody even knows they're Irish until they look at their bios.

I was gonna post Brazil, but we have plenty of capoeiristas and BJJ practicioners. Only recently with KOF14 did they change the formula a little. Our team has a kickboxer, a batshit ninjutsu otaku and the capoeirista is actually colombian for a change. Kek!

There's Dragunov from Tekken and Millia Rage from GG, the rest are all circus strongmen, mutants, cyborgs or literally Rasputin. And Dragunov is a pretty boring stone cold KGB badass stereotype too

Depends on the effort devs are willing to go. The Williams sisters were said to be from Co. Galway, Ireland in one of the old Tekken guidebooks around when T3 came out but now it's just labeled as Ireland.
