People told me this game is hard, it's actually pretty fucking easy once you get the hang of it.

Recommend me some actually hard NES games. Preferably not grindfest JRPGs.

Miracle Ropits Adventure in 2100.

Oh sure. It looks cute. It looks charming and inviting, even. But no. This game made a deal with the goddamn devil. Pain and suffering is enduring death time and time again as happy, upbeat carefree music surrounds you as if nothing is wrong. As if you aren't being brutalized for humor and sport. The developers of this game want to laugh at you while you cry.

Like any other video game.
people dont like to invest time in their fun so make that clear in your head.
Instead they listen to youtubers and their opinions only to nod with their head.

Few days back somebody posted a video of a youtuber saying metal slug is one of the hardes games on the planet and you cant 1cc it.
The guy was 25yo.

Antlantis no nazo

This game is beyond words.

For something actually more playable you should try the ninja gaiden trilogy, smb2 jp, starship hector, and solomon's key.

Q-bert, Arkanoid, and Ikari Warriors are the true unholy trinity of hard NES games.

afaik nobody has ever shown proof of beating nes Q-bert without pause buffering. and even with it only a handful of people are known to have beaten it.

The NES Contra's difficulty is overstated. It's really all about rote memorization and not losing the Spread Gun. If you want truly difficult Contra games, try playing Super Contra on its hardest difficulty setting (or its JP-only second loop, they're both the same) or the US version of Contra Hard Corps.

Ninja Gaiden 1 - doable with significant dedication.
Ninja Gaiden 2 - easier, actually
Ninja Gaiden 3 - noped out at the end
Batman - decently challenging with a reasonable learning curve
Mike Tyson's Punch Out - Similarly enjoyable if you like memorizing patterns

Silver Surfer
Adventure Island
Transformers (Famicom)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (FDS)
Ghosts n' Goblins
Gradius 1 and 2
Ninja Gaiden 1-3
Castlevania 1 and 3
Megaman 1
Zelda 2
Battletoads

I don't know why people seem to think NG3 is so much harder than 1 & 2. I mean you take away the limited continues and we're not even having this conversation., even with only limited, once you learn the game it's arguable the easiest in the series.
