How good are you at Puzzle Games

>> No.3295821

I'm decent at sliding puzzles but I utterly suck at Tetris and all its variants.

I'm the opposite. Good at Tetris but can't do sliding puzzles, Sudoku or Rubik's cubes. Shit at Puyo Puyo too.

Can you even rightly call the likes of Tetris and Mean Bean Machine a puzzle game? I mean when I think of a puzzle game, I think of something like pic related.

it's important to differentiate between sokoban and tetris

Absolutely terrible. I still enjoy them though.

This. Sliding puzzles are easy as shit once you know the trick. I have Bart vs. the World to thank for me figuring them out. I'm awful at other types of puzzles, though. I have no idea how I lucked into clearing Mean Bean Machine for the trophy in the Ultimate Genesis Collection.

>> No.3298170

Pretty decent at most versus puzzlers, with Puyo being my best.

>>3295948
Thinking is still the most important part. In the case of these games, thinking fast.

So what's the trick?

>> No.3298703

I love them, but I suck at them.

>>3297562

I especially suck at those, i hated them on bart vs the world, and also that one in pokemon gold

That shit is impossible to describe with just typing. I wish I could, but it is beyond me.

I don't really like it. Feels too awkward.

>>3297562
I love the ports of Final Fantasy 1 that have these as hidden features and you get gold and items for solving them. After several hours you can breeze through the majority of the game.

>tfw only S5 in TGM1 and 1 in TAP
Getting used to 20g with ARS is tough as balls.

Pre rotations I've got no problem with, DAS charged rotations I can do, my 5th column stacking is alright, but fuck if I can't clear holes effectively.

When I get to the point where I'm forced to make a hole it's followed by a series of 1 and 2 line clears until another hole is made trying to dig out the last one.

I assume you have studied both guides? They helped me a lot https://tetris.wiki/TGM_Guide and http://kitaru.1101b.com/TGMGUIDE/

When you are forced to make a hole try to make it at the sides. Avoid holes in the center columns at all costs as they are a bitch to clear.

P.S. I'm S8 in TAP master

>>3299674
Yeah, I look back at each guide and read over sections to put it in my head. I think I just need some more practice. Thanks for the advice. Also, congratulations on your rank, and on your GM in TGM1.

9:28 is a great time also, just under 45 seconds to a GM time. How long have you been playing?

About 2-3 years, on and off.

You know about the 20G code yes? Good for practicing. Or playing Death, though that starts out faster than TGM1 ever gets.

I'm the best at Tetris Attack.

That's pretty good, I've played TGM in passing some time about 4 years ago, but only really picked it up for serious play about three weeks ago. I've been using 20g and Death, but I've also just downloaded texmaster since it's convenient to be able to start at 500 in TGM quickly.
