>have a collecting sidequest that permeates through the entire game
>by the time it's finished it's used only for the final boss and is obsolete against him
>lock most upgrades behind a shitty minigames one of which requires a lot of grinding
>by the time you do it you can kill everything in one or two hits anyway

Why were the upgrades in this game so poorly handled?

Don't quote me on this, but I think that none of the original team who made the first Alundra worked on this.

I remember the early boss fights taking forever because they could kill you in a few hits and they had loads of health.

It was probably an unrelated project called "クロックワーク の Bullshit" or something like that at some point and they just slapped the Alundra brand on it in the last stretch before release

Yeah, this is one of the most blatant mis-uses of an IP i've seen. Got nothing to do with original Alundra.

I don't remember having to do any of this. I do however remember this bullshit from the first game:

- having a missable falcon that you literally had a split second time to get
- a fucking random roulette
- the staff you get for all the bullshit is a "I WIN" button
- if you kill yourself like 30 times in a row you get the strongest sword, which is otherwise unavailable

I consider the sword a darwin award for the most hopeless shitlords.
"Wow this guy sucks. Let's give him a fighting chance:"

What pissed me off is that I never found the permit for the casino, and when I realized it it was too late because the village had burnt and I couldn't get it anymore... So I had been collecting all those hidden falcons all game long for nothing!

Great game otherwise but it has some flaws. I think the worst bullshit was this for me:
>be in a room with switches
>in between the switches there is a pannel telling you a clue about a puzzle involving switches
>the clue isn't actually for the switches that are around the clue, but for the next switches in the next room

Stupid.
