I was going to make a Namco thread. I've been playing a lot of their arcade games recently, like Burning Force. Excellent game, and it has my favorite high score/initial entry tune of all time.

Favourite Babylonian Castle Saga game? mine would be Return of Ishtar (pic unrelated because quest of ki has the better box art)

80s anime girls in hot pink, sexy space suits with mech accoutrements are the best waifus. This is why modern anime / Japan is failing.

Best Namco game coming through. Also love the style of their PC Engine game cases.

This seems to be a lesser known Namco game but what are everyones thoughts on this?

I think it's kind of shit, the story is nothing that special and the music is completely forgettable, but I liked the hack-n-slash gameplay and I thought being able to do a bunch of different moves in combat added some variety to it.

Namcot was the consumer division of Namco. It only applied to console and PC ports.

I haven't played it too much. I think the thing I liked the most about it was the serious-looking character art. It felt like an average beatemup, though I've been meaning to get back into it.

>>3269930
This game's quite the adventure. The later levels absolutely kill me though. I don't think I've made it past the floating castle.

The Return of Ishtar is such a frustrating and obtuse game. How are you supposed to know where to go? Which of the dozen doors on any given floor to go through? Where to find necessary treasures and keys? Secrets? How are you supposed to keep your lunkhead Gil alive other than just parking him in the corner somewhere and letting you do all the work?

I think the farthest I got was 8 or so rooms into the game, before bullshit like bats kill me off.

Anyone else here play Dirt Dash? I first played it at this great arcade my parents would take me to when I was about 6 or 7. Something about the music really stuck with me, and now whenever I hear that style of Namco's 90s music, I think about that arcade (closed around 2005)

Ishtar is designed to be played with 2 players. Strategywiki has a very comprehensive guide for it, as well as Tower of Druaga.

Slightly related, but didn't they release, years and years ago, a book called Namco Graffiti that had a lot of their magazine art in it?

lol at Ki being the cover girl for like every issue, for some reason.

It was basically an omnibus edition of their Monthly NG magazine.

I've been trying to get a complete copy of it (with the CD) but it's been prohibitively expensive.

I need to get a scanner going, eventually I want to archive the NG issues I've got (about 30 of them).
