Okay /vr/, I need you to show me the worst game you own.

Now, I ain't talking "oh, I saw this terrible game on an episode of AVGN and I just had to buy off eBay it so I could try to play it with my girlfriend, lol!", I want the worst game you actually owned of your own volition. Games that you begged your parents to buy, or even worse, games you spent hard-earned allowance on, expecting it to be a magical experience, only to have your hopes and dreams crushed. Bonus points for including a story about how/why you got it, and the exact moment you realized it was shit.

Pic related for me. My local video rental store was selling off their old game stock, and I saw this and got excited because Back to The Future was like my favorite movie of all time. I dug FIFTEEN of my own dollars out of my piggy bank, and rode my bike to the store, and made the transaction myself. I raced back home, eager to have the most blissful gaming experience of my life. My dreams were shattered before I had even caught my breath from pedaling back. God damn. I played that game for another hour or so, trying to rationalize my purchase, wanting the game to redeem itself, but it never happened.

I've kept this game in my collection all these years, as an important reminder to look before I leap.

Nagano Winter Olympics '98.

I'm not sure why I thought it would be good, but at the time I was really into winter sports and had a blast watching the actual 98 games so I thought it would be a good pickup. I was really looking forward to some Bobsledding action but man the whole game was basically QTE's.

Thankfully it was a bargain priced game so it didn't eat much allowance (I think I nabbed it for $10 used at Blockbuster).

this piece of shit right here, it didn't even had NFL teams and everything from the graphics to the gameplay was abysmal, to be fair it wasn't onmy own volition since I won the game in an interactive TV contest and it came with 2 other decent games (Super Return of the Jedi and the Tiny Toons one)

I hadn't heard of the series before because I started with SNES and hadn't emulated older consoles yet, but it's probably the worst game I've ever owned. I recall it actually being unplayable although I haven't tried in over 10 years.

It has average ratings online but it was worse than Superman 64 to me.

Oh man. I was at my local game shop a few weeks ago and the asshole clerk recommended this game to me when I asked him about shmups.

The gameplay is the very definition of generic, the platforming is horrible, and the levels are way too long and boring. I couldn't get past the first level without succumbing to boredom.

I had no idea there was a Blaster Master on the Playstation. I just experienced emotional whiplash from learning this game existed, then learning it sucks.
>worse than Superman 64
I actually rented this, because I wanted it to be awesome. I was a huge fan of the Superman animated series. I didn't remember hating it too much. I mean, it wasn't good, but it wasn't as unplayable as people make it seem.

I own this, and it is as bad as they say. I have no idea how I own it, since I certainly didn't buy it. Must have picked it up off a friend who didn't want his n64 stuff anymore in the early 2000s.

Probably this one. It's not the run and gun game, but rather the rail shooter. Basically, the game would scroll to the right slowly and you'd move a crosshair to shoot terminators and vehicles. It wasn't unplayable, but it was just so dull and monotonous. Maybe it would've been better as a GBC game.

Was a huge JP fan when the movie came out.

I had received some cash for my birthday in 1994 and decided to spend some on a SNES game. Went to Electronics Boutique and was instantly drawn to this one because of the big JP logo. Had never heard of the game or seen pictures of the gameplay... literally just bought it because I figured JP would make it awesome.

Was much disappointed... spent $50 (huge sum of money for a 10 year old back then)

Wound up playing the game 2 or 3 times and then just put it away. Was just a shitty shootem up platformer with zero storyline in common with the movie

Got it for Christmas the second year I had my NES. Along with Mighty Bomb Jack and Gumshoe. My mother was terrible at picking out games, but I was happy to have anything other than Kung Fu, Duck Hunt, and Gyromite to play at that point.

And someday I'll work up the ambition to finally beat it.

Yeah. I was never ungrateful. I just had to beg like a crack whore to get people to lend me Metroid, Zelda, etc. I did all kinds of odd jobs to afford my gaming habit. Collecting bottles for deposit, mowing lawns, etc... but I spent most of my money on consoles as a kid, so I could rent whatever I wanted. In retrospect I probably should have focused less on hardware and bought quality games.

Epyx Winter Games for NES - it's boring more than anything, though the sound design is also grating.

It has a reputation for being one of the worst NES games which it doesn't deserve. Wikiplebia says it has "unresponsive" controls, which is untrue because the events are based on timing - if you have bad timing, the controls seem unresponsive. As for the sound and graphics, they are bad, but what are really expecting from a game that was old before the NES even got released?

/vr/ worst game is straight up superman 64, holy fuck that was the epitome of false advertising, i was expecting a superman game, not he abortion that superman 64 was. hell big rigs was nowhere near as bad as superman 64 because at least it was unintentionally amusing as a why physics works the way it does simulator.
worst game overall is sonic 06, it is literally cheetahman tier unplayable, the plot is abysmal and the end might be the single worst thing i've ever seen. jesus christ, i still have this piece of shit on my shelf and just looking at it for more then 5 seconds fills me with rage.

Yep, came here to post this.

I spent $30 on this a couple years ago, only to remember

1. I hate JRPGs
2. I hate cutscenes
3. I hate pre-rendered backgrounds
4. I hate loading screens

I was a NEET at the time too, so that was a lot of money for me. Still holding on to it, since it feels like a game I "should" have in my collection even though I hate it.

OP here. I own this game as well, my brother and I were monster truck fanatics as kids. I have to admit it isn't a good game, but I have nostalgia for it, and it's not the worst game I own because it's certainly more playable than Back to the Future, and it has better music, too.
