Was this game good or is it just nostalgia?

Only played PC version.
Lvls always feel longish.
Backtracking for feathers, talismans and primagen keys is not too annoying.
Interesting enemy design, wish there were more dinosaurs to shoot at tho.
Lair of the Blind Ones is pretty hard on key placement, very frustrating if you dont know where to go.
I actually never finished the game, always got bored around Mantids Hive.
Nice assortment of weapons.
Razor Wind is coolest, wish it was available earlier.
Warblade is fine, but I think that having knife from Dinosaur Hunter as basic melee would be better than Talon design wise.
When scooped, shot doesnt hit when crosshair is, it always lands a bit to the upper left, kinda annoying.
All in all, I like it.
Might be very first FPS I played.

I dunno man, how about you think by yourself and see if its good for you or not

Was a bit too long for my tastes. I did manage to beat it, but got bored more than once, some of the levels didn't feel that great and there was too much backtracking for certain items. The biggest problem I think was that sometimes you just didn't have a clue about what to do next to progress.

It was pretty good for its day (console only). The level design wasn't the best; however the weapons and combat were pretty satisfying. I'm pretty sure everyone liked the cerebral bore :).

Turok 2 has its flaws but it feels like a true adventure. Not many FPS have that feeling.

I had the N64 version.

I hated the Mantid level. Those creatures that would collect behind you and make a noise like grinding teeth would annoy the hell out of me.

But it was easier to just keep moving and let them gather behind you than turn around and fight them - only for more to come once you got going again.

Game was shit in general though. I only played it all because I bought it expecting Goldeneye with dinosaurs.

What I got was a slow, tedious collect-a-thon with poor controls.

Weapons were so-so. They all felt so feeble though, except the Mag 60. Cerebral bore was novely crap.

I hated the way it seemed purely random whether a shot you fired did any damage or not. Sometimes a grenade would kill an enemy instantly, sometimes the same enemy would take 8 grenades because the random number generator decided that the previous 7 would have no effect.

And the multiplayer was a joke. Terrible levels and so slow! And, I don't know if it was just a bug in my version, but there was this weird thin rod thing that kept poking into my vision. Never figured out what it was supposed to be but it was annoying as hell.

That's an arrow, you got shot by an arrow and now you see it in your vision.

OBLIGATORY ON EVERY TUROK THREAD

The old PC ports of Turok 1, 2 and motherfucking evolution.

Meh game then meh game now. Would be better if the movement didn't feel so slow and retarded. Turok literally stumbles with every step or some shit

Really shitty gameplay in general too. It was a cool looking game though

Isn't that the very start of level 1? I remember falling into the water there on my first go and having trouble getting out. I'd never played an FPS where you could jump before.

>> No.3235609

Are the levels as gigantic as I remember them being? Is it easier on PC since it might have actual draw distance and not fog everywhere?

You can complete the game in roughly 8 hours, levels 4, 5 and 6 are just confusing as fuck.

>> No.3236392

Its a good game, great actually. It's just absurdly difficult at times but that's part of the game's charm imo.

I wonder if they will fix some of the issues in the upcoming remaster.

Terribad game, both then and now.

Terrible game with the shortest draw distance fog I ever saw.

Anybody who says it is good is trying to get you to waste time and money.

Great game with nice graphics. Shame about the framerate on N64 but it's part of the charm.

Also a shame the PC version has a slightly less sophisticated lighting model. It would have been perfect otherwise.
