Do old Java/J2ME cell phone games count as retro? They really don't seem like a thing anymore now that almost everybody's got smartphones.

EDGE was also great game.
I think if i can dig up my old phone it should still be on it.
Bubble bobble port deserves mention.

Bumping out of interest
Kinda sad that a lot of those pre smart phone games are lost like tears in rain,
But then I remember how most of them were shit, only really remember playing saints row, was a pretty shitty GTA clone

The way I see it, both mobile games and plug-n-play TV games have yet to be properly archived for some reason. It's like nobody really cares about them enough to save them.

I really like plug-n-play games for some reason. Most of them are bad, but they were so popular and then died when people started buying HDTVs and actually cared about video quality.

Like, they were right at the edge of when the world turned high-tech. Before HDTVs, smartphones and high-speed internet took over.

All release dates I can find are after 2000 so they aren't retro. Only simple stuff like Snake should count.
