3164124 No.3164124 [Reply] [Original]

I don't know where else to go, and my options are running out fast. About 72 hours ago, my car stolen, and everything I own was in it. Clothes, video games, my desktop pc, trophies, everything. Even my birth certificate, W-2, registration, and insurance info were in it. Atlanta police didn't seem optimistic about my chances of finding it when I filed a report, so I'm basically screwed.

Some things to look out for are

-White 2016 Honda CR-V
-w/ a temporary license plate from Texas
-Roof rails (not shown in pic, had installed after purchase)
-Aluminum wheels

All I have left is about a week's worth of clothes. This is especially miserable for me because I had my N64, 5 controllers, and about 30 N64 games (including a gold cart copy of Ocarina of Time) in the car along with all three DKC games and an SNES arcade stick. I basically lost everything I own.

If anybody knows anything or finds out anything, I can be found at

There is more to this story. A car like that is not easily stolen unless they took the keys. It's more likely somebody that knew OP has it.

Also, you would immediately contact insurance after filing a police report and get a lot of cash back. And if you have any kind of property insurance - homeowners or renters - it should cover loss of the items.

OP my insurance company accepted my claim that I had roughly 3,000 dollars worth of vintage games and items. They insured me for that without an issue. That means I didn't even need pics. If everything was stolen from my house, I'd get 3,000 dollars back.

My car is insured for the full value I paid for it through nationwide, who I also have renter's insurance from. So if my car was stolen, with all those possessions in it, I'd get the value of the car plus a lot of cash for my possessions too.

You're either a liar or something else is going on.

Depending on what state you're in, homeowners insurance won't cover theft of what is inside the vehicle. My car was broken into and I had a $1000 guitar and a nice sound system in the car. I talked to my insurance agent and they said they don't cover that anymore due to how many fraud cases they get.

I'll keep an eye out for it in my area Op I live a hour and a half away from Atlanta.
You really have to be careful in that city I have friends who had their vehicles robbed while it was parked in a parking lot, the vehicle itself wasn't stolen but the stuff inside was.
The vehicle was locked too and they still broke into it with some tools. Every time we would go do shows at the Masquerade we made sure to keep a close eye on all of are equipment.
Hope you get your stuff back man, but they probably took it to a chop shop by now.

Nothing else is going on, it's just that there was a lot of personal stuff in it. I'd rather have my stuff back than the money.

Obviously, I should've drove instead of flown, but I wasn't thinking about that while I was in a hurry to catch my flight. This clearly was a bad decision even though I had friends checking up on my car daily, but I was parked in front of $600k houses, BMWs, and Cadillac Escalades. I thought the area was safe.

Sorry the same thing happened to you, but I can assure you I'm not lying. I understand what you're suggesting someone might do: claim their stuff was stolen and beg for money to cover the theft of property. I have full insurance too, so I'm not asking for any money.

I'm just trying to find my car and all my stuff. Anything you see or hear about helps.

Just remembered something I did when my expensive ass bike was stolen at the train station in front of a security camera with a guard nearby...

Try posting on Craigslist looking to buy some of the items that got stolen. Maybe one for the car, one for the games, etc.

Maybe phrase it like "looking to buy a newer Honda CRV to drive across country next week" or some shit to create a sense of urgency for the transaction and wealthy ignorance. Maybe throw in a false request like "any color is fine" even though you're obviously only concerned with white 2016 models.
Maybe there are other sites like this you could put a WTB post on like car forum or something.

I also found a site where you could report your bike stolen with the serial number. If you had a macbook or something similarly sought after you could for something like that as well.

I didn't get my bike back doing that but I've heard of other people who have doing this.

The video games would not have melted because they were covered by a bed sheet and contained in a white plastic tub.

I parked in front of my house in a fairly good neighborhood while I was on a trip to Chicago. I was parked across the street from $600k homes, BMWs, and Cadillac Escalades. My girlfriend checked up on my car for me every day when she parked there to walk to class.

I left my stuff in there because it would having all of it in her apartment would have put her in a bind trying to find a new roommate.

Should I have found a storage shed? Should I have just driven to my family in Chicago? Yes, any one of these things had a statistically better outcome, and I think I would have had a better chance getting struck by lightning than parking in a nice suburb of Chicago.

I'm just asking people to say something if they see something.

And by the way, whoever finds it gets any 3 items out of my video game chest. Just a reminder, I have a Wii U (and every controller you could possibly want with it), gold cart version of Ocarina, 3-5 N64 controllers, every Smash Bros, a Super Game Boy, all 3 DKCs, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, DK64, and the list GOES ON.

It happened near the end of my visit to Chicago. At the moment in time in which the car was stolen, it wouldn't have made the slightest difference whether I had just stepped inside to get a drink of water and wound up talking with my former roommates' new roommates for an hour, got hit by a drunk driver walking down the street to my friend's house to retrieve my bike from their garage, or if I was kidnapped by ISIS and shipped all the way to the other side of the world.

The theft would have happened at that specific interval of time regardless, and there was no foreseeing it would have happened.

Had I just driven to Chicago and put up with the 9 hour drive, I'd still be walking on sunshine.

I'm just trying to put my mind on what's next and keep swimming. If you see something, it will help me a lot for you to say something. I really hope I find it.

If I could ask some questions here, if one trips and breaks an ankle, is it their fault for "walking all wrong" or does shit just sometimes happen? If somebody gets stabbed for looking at the wrong person the wrong way, is it really their fault? If somebody puts a Donald Trump or a Bernie Sanders sign in their yard, do they deserve to have their windows smashed and house burned?

I'm sure something happened to you and if not, you have a long life in front of you for stuff to happen. Will you want help if, and I most certainly hope something this bad doesn't happen to you, the day comes where you find yourself in this position?

In missing the point. You said you left your car outside your house with all of your most important belongings in it. Were you in the process of moving? I could never ever consider myself ever leaving such important documents unattended in a car, let alone my own car, for any amount of time unless in direct sight and on my way to deposit them elsewhere. Yes, it is your fault for leaving valuables in your vehicle unattended, for however long is irrelevant. What I'm most puzzled about is why you didn't just leave them in your house since your car was parked in front of your house to begin with. At least then there is a deterrent for burglary. Burglary is such a lesser committed crime when compared to car B&E. especially if you've got roommates occupying the facility.

Yeah, you wouldn't want to put stuff like video games and papers in a shitty outdoor unit anyway.

Yeah, but the flight was cheaper than the gas, and I've driven/rode down i-75 enough times to know there's nothing worth seeing after you leave Tennessee. The flight was objectively a better deal without the theft.

And even if I had been with my car, and at a different location, I could have very well been shot dead and then had my car jacked.

Even if you live in a gated community, which I doubt any of us do, your neighbor could be another John Wayne Gacy type of psychopath: a model citizen who no one would have suspected of being a serial killer. Could've taken the car to hide the evidence, or make it look like you just ran away from home.

That said, if you see a white 2016 Honda CR-V, please say something.

Is it that you folks think there is no reward, or that you don't want the reward?

1. I never asked for money, and I made it pretty clear I'm not asking for money.

2. Even if we assume I'm taking you all for a ride, it wouldn't make sense because I wouldn't know how much effort people put into searching, so I wouldn't get any lulz. I'm not asking people to actively search. Just asking for, "see something, say something."

3. Even if you don't like any of the stuff I'm offering, you can still walk away with up to $400 in stuff if you pick the Wii U and exchange it for cash value. That's a pretty decent bounty for not having to steal the car back from the thieves. Hell, I'd do it just to get a car thief off the streets before he can steal my car if the roles were reversed. That applies 1000x if we're talking kidnapped persons.

You all have family and property, so you never know if it can happen to you. That time you left your car unlocked while you rushed into a gas station bathroom to pinch a loaf, that time your 4 year-old daughter walked off while you leaned over to tie your shoes, or that time you took your kids to Disney with nothing but locks on your doors and people you know checking up daily (like I had for my car). Just as easy for someone to pull something over on you in these circumstances.

That said, I'm upping the ante to 5 items. I'm just trying to make people aware that the car shown above is in fact stolen and offering the reward to help you good people remember what it looks like in case you stumble upon it. If you see something, please say something. This is the last time I'll probably be here for a couple days since I need to go work out plan B and sort things out with police and insurance. Until then, I'm hoping something turns up so I can avoid losing my down payment and paying higher insurance rates.

Wish me luck!

you should be trying to deal with the potential identity theft, you fucking idiot.

why do you care about the games? your identity matters a million times more, and the games are always replaceable. hell, there is a good chance that insurance will cover your stolen car. you can also save up enough money to buy new copies of the games you once had. but if you lose your identity, you're basically fucked. that's it. game over. you're focused on the wrong shit, man. the fact that you're posting here right now and not setting up safe-guards towards your identity proves such a claim.

I already took care of that, believe me that was the first thought on my mind.

Like I keep telling people, please say something if you see something. If you see a white 2016 Honda CR-V, please say something. It might have fake license plates by now for all we know, but please be on the lookout for that Texas temporary plate.

ITT: OP is a stupid attention seeking douche from reddit who used the same story he read there and tries to make people on this site believe his BS story that he lost a car with games on it and has a girlfriend while not realizing the irony that most people on this site don't give a damn about his blog because it's about the topic, not the person and because it's a global rule that is not allowed on this site.

You should be glad you're on a board the janitors and mods don't care about OP. If you tried this shit elsewhere you wouldn't get off so easily.

Not that it is even gonna matter anyway. That whole "my father died so I got his whole NES collection but don't know what to do with it" reddit thread also stayed in the catalog for a long time.
