Second, the most pirated/cloned console of all time is the Famicom by far, literally anywhere outside the US a Famiclon was more common than the NES and that extended during the 4th gen as well, I can assure you there were more famiclons in Europe/Asia than original 3rd/4th gen Nintendo/Sega consoles combined, so if cloned consoles were to help someone boost their sales, that would be Nintendo, I have literally seen 1 cloned Sega system every 20 Famiclons.

They were actually quality clones, but weren't really original. You could tell because most of them didn't include the "Licensed by Sega Enterprises" screen when you turn on the console.

The Family Game, the Genesis and the PS1 were the most popular consoles in Argentina because of piracy, the games were all bootleg and cheap. Finding an original Genesis game back in the 90s here was a hard task.

I don't play on an xfuck. I have a last Gen to play PS1 games on because it is faster than the PSX load times. I do watch Netflix on it because it is hooked up to my main TV. I play most of my games on my NES, Genesis, Snes, N64 with a bigger screen CRT for the majority of my gaming time.

I'll take a 3 with quicker loading, netflix, Sunday ticket, Blu ray, and browser (if I ever wanted to try) over a PSX and a CD player though.

from the purist standpoint, the Wii is very watered down and casual. however, as you said, Sony and Microsoft became dominant. Nintendo had to get experimental and shift their demographic in order to compete.

But is not the same being 20M behind like Sega in the 4th gen than being almost 70M units behind, so that 2nd place isn't too important, if it wasn't for Sony who knows, maybe Square would have gone to SEGA with FF because of their CD support and the story would be another entirely.

The Xbox and GC were tied practically (the Xbox won by a tiny bit, 24M vs 21M), but they were both commercial failures because the PS2 sold 155 fucking Million, in constrast in only a 2 year-ish period the Dreamcast sold half the units the GC did in the entire run of the 6th gen, was Nintendo really doing better in the 6th gen than Sega? I don't think so, but the GameBoy and NDS made them rich so they could support themself easily, if SEGA didn't stop the DC production they would have gone bankrupt, that's the sad truth.

Personally I think Saturn and N64 have about the same amount of good games. In fact, both systems have some of my overall favorites from 5th gen.

I may be in the minority here but I enjoyed Saturn and N64 more than PS1. (not saying PS1 doesn't have an amazing library though).

I think a lot of the N64 hate is just snobbism, it's just "cool" to hate it. But it has a lot of amazing games, not even talking 1st party.
