Hey /VR/

The girlfriend and I have been playing retro platformers. Here's the list of what we've completed so far over the winter.

What do you recommend we play next? Any console.
Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Bros 3
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Advanced (SMB 2 GBA)
New Super Mario Bros. (NDS)
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3

Goemon's Great Adventure.

It has 2 players co-op to play with the gf.

What child prostitution?

Anyway yeah the western release was still cut, it doesn't include the intro opening or the Impact videos. I'm not sure why, if because Konami was cheap and didn't want to pay licenses to Kageyama and Mizuki, or if they cut them to avoid getting western people "weirded out" or something, anyway the first game on N64 had the scenes and everyone remembers them fondly. I mean, it's fucking DBZ and Mazinger guys singing video game giant robot songs, it's awesome.

SNES Goemon 2
SNES Goemon 4
N64 Great Adventure
PS1 Ooedo Daikaiten

... they're all great co-op games.
But If I had to pick one, I would absolutely go with Great Adventure. Specially if you're co-op partners isn't comfortable with japanese games, having to look up guides to move past some city stages.

GGA just feels like the bigger, more expansive game, the ultimate form of Goemon games.
The SNES games are amazing too, starting with any of them is fine.

I don't remember if you can gamble on GGA, but you can work as a call center employee answering calls from kids about the gaming industry.

While lacking co-op, Goemon Shinsedai Shuumei is great too. Most people are turned off by the way-too-2000s change of designs, but if you give it a change you'll find it's actually a very decent (and challenging) Goemon game. It has a surprisingly huge amount of unlockables not easily documented in any googleable guide (like permanent extra health bars a-la Mega Man X and Lvl. 4 weapon upgrades)

There's also a SFC game, is it the same one as the GBA?
Is the PS1 version the same game as the Saturn? If so, which one is better? I ask because Saturn usually has the better version of 2D games, but not always.

Rocket Knight Adventures (Sega)
You play as a rocket knight opossum with a sword that shoots fire rings. The physics feel really nice in this game.

Mischief Makers (N64)
Platformer with collecathon elements. You can only get the true ending if you get all of the special gems. Good music and cheesey voice acting.

Oddworld Abe's Odyssey (PSX)
You play as a slave in a meat factory where the newest product to be sold is made from your character, Abe's race. Platformer with some puzzles and stealth. Lots of hidden areas that are usually way more difficult than the area you find them in. The goal of the game is to free all your pals who work in the factory. Lots of different death animations and a neat speech system to micromanage the slaves you save. 2 Player mode like Mario Bros with infinite lives by default.

The gems on MM are mostly obtained not by exploring levels and collecting stuff, but by playing in a certain way (for example, for most bosses the gold gem comes out if you beat them without getting hit).
Some levels in the game have some exploration, but it's not really focused on that, most of the game is about the action, I'd call it a platformer/action game.
