I personally had a lot of fun with Shadowrun as a kid. Play a shaman and get .09 essence worth of cyberware that includes a datajack then enjoy everything the game has to offer. My suggestion would be to grind a bit in the early game with ghoul-hunting jobs and random data steals for cash until you're at a comfortable power level before enjoying the story at your own pace. Also grenades, lots of grenades for the final boss.

Shining in the Darkness and Shining Force are good tactic games, though if memory serves they can be a bit easy to predict and formulaic while you're playing the battles.

I don't know the others you've got there, but as for a recommendation I've got to mention:
Phantasy Star IV as the game that got me into jrpgs to begin with.
Starflight for the sci-fi rpg and exploration with slow discovery of story while building your totally not full of bridge bunnies crew.
Beyond Oasis for a light zelda-like game.
Rings of Power has a huge world to explore but for the love of god read a walkthrough, use the second controller teleport trick, and save very very often.

While not rpgs, I'd also suggest Eternal Champions, a stupid but fun fighting game with a roster and backstories that fascinated me as a kid, and Warlock for the fun platformer. Bonus points for Warlock if you go watch the two so-bad-its-good movies, skip the third.

it's not the best, slowdown is a problem, it seems like they gave up or were rushed about halfway through. It's good fun though, gory as shit with some funny parts, it's like playing an 80's horror flick.

you can shove your fist up enemies ass and pull their spine out of their now blown out rectum, there's the picture fragment thing where you find some noods of jen. I regretted paying full price for it but if you're into gore or the original games it's worth a playthrough.

I thought it was pretty disappointing, mainly for the missed opportunity, and never quite completed it. The atmosphere, enemy designs etc are meh. Mechanically the game is ok, the voice acting and such is probably above average. It probably would've turned out better if it had a less troubled development history, but it didn't, so whatever.

I keep it handy because it has the original trilogy on it, although the sweet digitized cut scenes for SH3 were altered because of copyrights.

what the hell? all of those games are fun, wotes is a good streamlined goldbox game for consoles its pretty good as is order of the griffon on the turbo grafx, shadowrun is pretty awesome to play around in, shining is a pretty good dungeon crawler and better than eye of the beholder on consoles and might and magic 2 is a good game and the genesis version is the best if you dont mind playing with a controller.

Doesn't surprise me. Would have enjoyed the game if it wasn't filled with really annoying bugs and long load times. There was one glitch that kept playing the chainsaw sound long after you had one even if you were in the pause menu.

Steer clear of the D&D stuff and Might and Magic. Shadowrun is ok and absolutely avoid Buck Rogers, one of the worst RPGs I've ever played.
