I think I've mentioned it before but I still don't get how this is a "Zelda killer" in any way. Never mind that it came at least 6 years after the fact, aside from the puzzles it doesn't do anything well at all, and I certainly wasn't impressed by the grimdark animu plot either.

Lots of N64 kiddos who only know of Treasure because their parents bought them Mischief Makers on a whim and didn't care to look at the rest of the games by the same developer.

Likewise, lots of Gamecube kiddies whose first (and only) exposure to shmups was Ikaruga, who only like it for its style and OST.

That's why they're overrated games.

By the way, I'm a Mischief Makers fan and I'm a huge Alien Soldier fan as well, it's one of my favorites.

I seriously consider this to be one of the most over rated games ever made. The story goofy and doesn't fit the tone of the indian jones series as a whole. The dialog is stiff and poorly written. The bg music is horrible, even for the time. The puzzles are so obtuse and frustrating that even sierra would be ashamed. I don't get why people make out like this is such a great game. Also, yes, I do like adventure games, and I have played a lot of them.

On a more serious note, I have no idea what you are talking about. The story is great, the plot is nicely put together, the locations are good. The only bullshit puzzle I remember is one near the end when you needed to fuck around with the orchicalcum. The fact that it has multiple paths is what settled it for me that it's a damn good game.
