I'm about to make the leap into PC-CDrom territory, however, I'm concerned that my PC Engine is incompatible with the interface unit. It's modded to output stereo audio and s-video, and it's got an active region switch. My concern is whether or not these modifications would affect the expansion port or anything relying on video output within the interface unit. Anyone have any experience? Is the PCE PC CD-rom worth it in the long run? Is there a better option altogether?

Depends, are the outputs for S-video and stereo audio modded in the back or to the left?

Uhh. To the right. The s-video is in place of the rf out. The back expansion port is completely intact, and nothing else is affixed to the back. The power is in its original spot as well.

Than it'll probally work, you won't get composite from the briefcase unit thourgh, but the audio RCA (the white and red) should give audio,

I'll just warn you anon that I've read the duo models have much more reliable CD assemblies and it might be worth just getting one of those and selling your original pce. That's what I have done anyway

What video does the briefcase output? RF? If so, is there some sort of optional AV booster like there is for TG/PCE?
