Would it be massively inappropriate to have a /vr/ feels thread?

>learn about an old game that sounds amazing
>get stoked to play it and get hold of a copy
>it's as good as you hoped, getting really into it
>looking up some information about it
>find out you've been playing an inferior version of the game
>tfw can never play the game for the first time again with the original/definitive version

What's so important about the different versions of Frogger?
I grew up with the C64 port.

Something like that happened to me when I played mean bean machine for the first time.

The MSX1 version was pretty nice, but the playfield was much smaller due to enlarged sprites and objects.

I played this "inferior" version of Pengo, and had lots of fun with it back in the day. Didn't have anything to compare it to, so I didn't know any better. I still think it's cute.

I only posted Frogger because feels thread, frog, /vr/, frogger.

You see what I'm trying to do.

I don't give much of shit about Frogger. I'm talking more about playing a newer version of an old pc game and finding out that the original was a masterpiece of restricted pixel art and chip music, and the one you played is modern digital paintings and redbook audio, and although you still love it, you wish you'd gotten to play the original creation first, before the update-it-for-the-nineties crew got their hands on it.

A quick example of what I mean.

The only problem I see is that often there's not a single definite version rather than various ports that all have their flaws and merits.
Getting a roundup about the different versions and picking the ones that suits your tastes the most isn't that difficult in this day and age.

I've had that happen, but never cared. The first version of Tales of Phantasia I played was the GBA version that everyone says is garbage. I enjoyed the heck out of it when I played it though. And then it made a second playthrough a few years later worth while because I had a different version to play through.

Feels you say?

You want feels? I got feels for ya
>be me
>be six or something, idk I was little
>family friend brings the original Spyro over
>love it more than anything I've ever played
>parents with me at store
>we can get you the first, second, or third game, anon
>see the collectors edition, dismiss as I already have the first one borrowed to play
>get Rypto's rage due to same reasoning
>play the shit out of it and love it.
>friend moves away, eventually get first game and third game.
>still no collector's edition of the trilogy cuz it would be a waste since I already own one of the games at the time
>fast forward few years, moving into smaller house cuz poor
>freaking rv, this isn't even a house
>parents buy me a CD case and makes me get rid of all my beautiful ps1 jewel cases
>cry
>fast forward to now and wish I fought to keep those cases after seeing amazon prices
>still hate past me for not getting the collector's edition in its beautiful case
Tfw I will never have the collectors edition of the ps1 Spyro trilogy and its beautiful case complete with manuals.
Still have the games tho and still play the shit out of them
