>What is Puyo Puyo?
Puyo Puyo is a puzzle game created by Compile and currently owned and developed by Sega that can be described as similar to tetris with a spin, instead of filling lines to make bricks dissapear, you connect 4 slimy blobs (puyos) of the same color, puyos can fall downwards, with this you can achieve combos.

>Where can I play?
You can play it on almost every retro and modern console in existence. Recommended versions are:
- Puyo Puyo Tsu (Super Famicom, Saturn, PSX, PS2, Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Gear, Windows, PC Engine, Neo-Geo Pocket and Wonerswan)
- Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary (DS, 3DS, Wii, PSP)
- For netplay: Puyo Puyo VS 2 (Windows)

MD has that weird combo system for casting. The other ports have conventional menus.
More important is that only 1 got ported to MD or PCE. For the sequels you only have the choice between MSX, PC-98 and GG and I went with the PC-98 for easier readability.
The GG apparently had some extra content and changes like a different maze layout requiring you to learn spells again. I expect they cut out some stuff like the severed head.

puyo2 its still more competitive, you have to actively make sure that your opponent doesnt fuck you over with a tiny chain, you have to plan ahead while stacking your puyos.
2 player tetris is still as simple as 1 player tetris.

Sun > Tsu

Gameplay is the same, other than two tweaks: the Sun puyo, which makes the game faster paced and less reliant on building gigantic towers, and the other tweak is that junk only falls in 2-3 puyos later, allowing you to set up counters easier.

And you can still set it back to Tsu style gameplay if you want.

Other than that it has better gfx and more unique animations. I just wish you could select different characters in versus mode after a match.

The backgrounds also change the fonts and stuff to the games where they're from, the classic puyo skin already comes with the game, and there are downloads for the older music and sound effects in that page too. I don't think there are classic-style character packs though.
