Someone please answer these questions that have been burning within me for decades:

What is an Eke Eke? Is there a real world inspiration for this item, or even something else from a work of fiction? How do you pronounce Eke Eke? What is it called in Japanese?

>> No.3028179

It's Hawaiian
>1. n. Small bag or sack, pocket, purse, scrotum
>2. Redup. of 'eke 2; fussy, overexacting, cranky, particular.
>3. n. A herringbone design, as in mat plaiting or in the p'pale 'ie
>4. (Cap.) n. Name of a wind of the island of Ka-'ula. (For. 5:99.)

They also use it as a component of about a million words because the Hawaiian language is primitive as fuck. It probably got included as meaning a bag of medicinal herbs

EkeEke is just made up for the game. It's called basically the same thing in the Japanese version: エケエケの実 EkeEke Fruit
Roughly translated from the Japanese Wikipedia page:
"Mercator Island specialty. It is rich in the Ekeno-ru vitamin. It is Friday's favorite food."
