Has anyone played pic related? Even through emulation?

Shit's fun as fuck and ahead of it's time. Sega really missed a chance by not calling it Streets of Rage 4 and not porting it to any home consoles.

I've played it on the original Xbox. Not sure if retro, probably isn't.

Such a shame 3D beat em up's never became popular the same way 3D platformers and 3D fighting game did.

The Xbox game is a sequel, the original game and it's update/sequel came out on the Model 3 arcade hardware.

First time seeing this game, looks like a more advanced Fighting Force.

Any good, troopers?

I've only played the original arcade version on the Supermodel emulator.

My PC is shit so it lags on certain moments, but outside of that it's playable. Def a better game than Fighting Force imo.

But they did, they're called slashers now. They're as close to the beat em up genre as collectathons are to classic 2D platformers and Virtua Fighter clones to SF clones.

Cool beans, I might check this one out then!

I like the urban vibe too, glad I found this thread.

Shenmue uses the SpikeOut engine for it's combat sequences IIRC.

i know its not /vr/, but if you like this you should all check out urban reign by namco on the ps2

i think it uses the tekken engine

Slashers are more 3D hack n' slash games than beat em' ups though. 3D beat em' ups in the fist-fighting sense are scarce and met with a mixed reception by the general public.
